RE: Michael's Horror Lase-O-Rama: Black Sunday (1991, Image Entertainment)
I love both films. I had the pleasure of seeing Black Sabbath on the big screen at a Bava film festival years ago. It's an anthology; the best of the three segments is A Drop of Water, but the others are good too. If you wanna see the great Barbara Steele, the Goddess of Gore, playing a 75-year-old serial killer, The Butterfly Room (2012) is worth a watch. Has cameos for Joe Dante and a bunch of 80s scream queens as well, which is fun.
I am very interested in seeing Barbara Steele playing a 75-year-old serial killer! The Butterfly Room is now on my radar. Don't think there's any chance of me finding it in LaserDisc though. Ah, the tragedies I suffer for my craft... :D
It has a non-linear plot so you really have to pay attention, but I think you will like it. Very giallo. Plus, two of the most famous "Last Girls" of the great 80s slasher films -- Heather Langenkamp and Adrienne King!
Same here! Watched it on the big screen ( but not at a Bava fest, it was an underground film sceening in Amsterdam ).A drop of Water is great indeed but I, personally, really liked the Boris Karloff short. The overall mood / atmosphere was amazing!
I will put 'The Butterfly Room on my to watch list. Thank you! :>)
