IT's not fanservice (For The Most Part)

in #film7 years ago

Yesterday I went to see the new adaptation of Stephen King's book "IT", and as a fan of the book it actually surprised me (pun intended).

Don't worry, this will be a spoiler-free review.

Even though I frankly loved it, I don't really know where to start, so -as my therapist said to me once- let's start with the beginning: "IT" is a beautifully crafted movie. You can tell by watching the first minutes of the movie that this was made by real fans of the book, and I really couldn't be happier about it.

All-time horror fans will love this movie too, "IT" is very influenced by classic horror films such as John Carpenter's "The Thing" and Evil Dead. Driven by compelling characters and their believable relationships, with a common objective that is to find the whereabouts of missing children.

The young actors in this movie are great, developing strong bonds between them and making it compelling enough for the audience to care. Bill Skarsgard as the main antagonist Pennywise, is beyond outstanding. Delivering a creepy but not over -the-top performance, will definetly make you have chills.

The cinematography is also great, with great sequences and beautiful shots. I really think Andrés Muschietti has done an amazing job directing this movie.

Even though, I've been talking about the things I think are good so far, this movie's not perfect. Some scenes felt rushed and boring as some things about the story are not fully explained.

My rating: 8.5/10

"IT" is as good as it could be, with great characters, and a well adapted story that even Stephen King himself gave it the thumbs up. Stay tuned for more reviews and cool stuff :)
