WHY YOU SHOULD NOT LIVE ON YOUR SALARY

in #finance3 years ago (edited)

Salary is the amount of a money a person gets at the end of every month after completing a given task or it can also be defined as a sum of money that is paid to an employee by an employer at the end of each month according certain agreements that are made between the two parties. The amount a person gets every month depends on the following:- working hours, types of work and the year a person has used in service.

Salary payments to workers sometimes become a problem to the payer due to a reason or reasons best known to the organisation. It may be because the organisation is not making profits as expected or if the organisation is losing too much money; it may come to a point when it will become very hard for her to pay her workers; another reason why a company may find it hard to pay her workers is when she suffers a robbery attack or when there is a fire outbreak in such an organisation. Why should a person not live on his salary?

Firstly, this is the 21st when everything is going digital. As someone who doesn't want to be lagging behind in all ramifications of life he needs to follow the trend. Salary is a fixed payment that may be meagre to the receiver but with digital investment, he may be getting more than 4 times his salary.

One needs not to be a salary earner before he can live a life of self sufficiency, there are different ways by which a person can earn these days. With the unimaginable that comes with the 21st century; a person can make as much as a thousand dollars everyday by being an online investor. There are different platforms to which people invest in. Examples of such are the crypto currency world and Forex trading; if a person knows how to trade in the aforementioned global market he doesn't need to suffer himself waiting for the months to end before he can buy himself what he needs and live a happy life.

More so, take for example the story of man that got married 6 years ago, as at the time he got married he was earning $50 at the end of every month but as time went on, he had a child and his expenses increased but he and his family were able to manage and they were still able to cope with life. Later, his became pregnant and she was delivered of another bouncing baby boy; the expenses of the man became higher to the extent that they started to collect food on credit before they could get themselves what to eat, because his salary was no more sufficient for him to feed his family. Comparatively, if he was self-employed he needed not to depend on how much he was collecting because he would have made a lot of profits before the months end.

More so, during hardship, some companies may cut off the salaries of their workers to avoid getting bankrupted; at those times, workers have no options than to accept the pay cut, if they do not want to risk losing their jobs. But if a person has another means by which he gains in more income, wether the company cuts off their salaries or not he may not be affected by it so much.

Furthermore, the outbreak of Covid-19 in the world has taught everyone one or two lessons. One of the lessons is that everyone should have other sources of income rather than waiting for the months end. When Covid-19 set-in, there were lockdown everywhere and almost every business closed down. Tell me, how can a company that does not run any business transaction in 3 to 5 months be able to pay her workers' salary which in turn led some business owners to reduced their work forces; which in turn led to the increase in the unemployment rate even in the developed countries. But if a person has another source(s) of income, say for example if he sells recharge cards, there was no way he will be unemployed even if he was among the suspended workers because even at the comfort of his home, he could make as much as hundreds of thousands everyday.
But be that as it may, in some countries, there are sometimes when the workers don't get paid by the government for unexplainable reasons. Because of embezzlement, selfishness and corruption; people's interests are not always considered as far as the government officials are okay and they have no problem, a worker in such a country should not depend only on the salary he collects if he is working for any government owned agency or establishment.
Entrepreneurs are employers, if a person has a small business he is running and he is making his cool cash, he does not need any monthly salary payment before he can survive because he is making money more than he needs everyday and he is living well.

Salaries of some workers are not for life; such workers need to find different means by which they live on because after retirement and they are receiving nothing, how can they survive?
One should be prepared for the unexpected anytime; what if a person does something wrong and the employer gets angry, he may consider sacking such an employee. If such a person has no other means of sourcing for income; how can he feed himself and his family and for how long will he wait before he gets another job that pays? But if he is self-sufficient and he runs a bigger bussiness, he can make as much as 2 times the amount he gets previously from his work place.

Take a look at the richest men on earth, they are not salary dependent, they have their own businesses they run. They are the employers of labours, they do not depend on anybody to survive, because they make their millions and billions of dollars everyday. They have more than enough and their monies keep growing every time.

In conclusion, to be successful; one needs to learn how to be self-sufficient and finding other means by which money comes for him apart from being a salary earner. There are are a lot of means by which a person can be okay financially, he only needs to be determined and be ready to face risks. A person can go into the fashion industry, Agro-related business, production and sales of consumable goods, sales of groceries, just to mention but a few. Also, one should make use of the transformation that comes with the 21st century and use the opportunity to accumulate wealth for himself and his family and be self-sufficient financially.
