BBVA 2018 Highlights

This month has been a month of two influential events, the BBVA Open Summit 2018 and the ongoing event Money 2020 from 21–24 October, 2018 at The Venetian, 3355 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109, USA.
BBVA, abbreviation for Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, is a multinational Spanish banking group and the second largest bank in Spain. It was formed from a merger of Banco Bilbao Vizcaya and Argentaria in 1999 The company is a constituent of the IBEX 35 and Euro Stoxx 50 stock market index.
BBVA is among the leading banks that have committed themselves to Open Innovation in all their areas. Their Open Innovation unit conducts an annual competition, BBVA Open Talent, the largest Fintech competition worldwide, which so far welcomed over 6,000 participating startups from over 80 countries, including over 700 executives, with 1.65 Million EUR awarded in prize money.
BBVA Open Summit conducts these competitions to bring the most innovative startups from various areas including blockchain technology together and enabling them to present their solutions to the leaders in the Fintech industry. This year for the awards of the 10th edition of Open Summit, BBVA received more than 900 applications.
Sedicii, ChargeAfter and Dunforce won the main awards “Fintech for Future”, “Fintech for People” and “Fintech for People”, with Cashaa having been selected as a Top 3 finalist for the category “Fintech for People”. For more details, see here.
The past Immersion Week in which all finalists participated, brought them together with the BBVA ecosystem and gave them numerous business opportunities from within and outside BBVA. The Immersion Week was attended by Janina Lowisz, our Co-Founder & VP Marketing, and included the following highlights:
“Aside the absolutely impressive event that was BBVA Open Summit, finalists were given a range of opportunities around the BBVA ecosystem. Meeting representatives from various business units, such as their blockchain business unit, their responsible business unit and more, meeting BBVA’s key personalities such as their CEO Carlos Torres Vila at the headquarters Ciudad BBVA, together with getting valuable insights from successful entrepreneurs and more established startups, was a unique experience that I can highly recommend to any startup that is looking to have an impact in Fintech. While being in a group of finalists with other highly promising startups, BBVA also cared about every company individually being able to make best use of their opportunities.”
