Fire problems: A day at work

Fire as we all know cause he dangerous but useful when we need it. Scientifically fire occurs as a result of chemical combustion which involves 3 elements (heat, oxygen and fuel) which combine to form a chemical combustion (Fire pyramid).

As a corper serving in Abuja under the Local Emergency unit (Abuja Municipal Area Council), various calls come in about complains of fire incidents in different places which we attend to.
So early February, on a sunny Tuesday a call came in about 2pm saying a fire outbreak occurred in a market at a location called Jahi II, as a result of gas explosion. As congested as the market was the fire was bound to spread quickly due to the abundance of the elements of fire present at the scene.
The fire burnt down shops, houses, motorcycles and cars before it was put out by fire fighters and other government emergency agancies.
As a result of the fire, lots of properties were lost, and victims experienced psychological trauma, although no life was lost by the fire, but lives were changed forever as few persons ended up in the hospital with critical burns.

Therefore,fire should be taken seriously and accidents should be preventing by taking adequate safety precautions to advert them. Safety precautions like good housekeeping, providing adequate fire exringuishers at proper places, conducting fire drills are mostly taken for granted.

But if you say Safety is expensive, then try accident.
