Catching Dreams part1.
Wrekin-Reservoir.jpg
Its not every day I target carp as a species but as many years had passed, one lake in particular would always catch my eye while driving to work.

Many times I would stop and walk around the lake, wondering what lies under the surface hoping one day to cast a line in and find out.

That day finally came when I was stopped by the land owner for a chat when he offered me a days fishing. He was no longer aware what fish survived in the lake, "If anything at all did still survive it was definitly wild" he would add.

It didnt need another invitation as I rushed home grabbed the fishing gear and headed strait back for the afternoon feed.
I wasn't sure what to expect but I decided it was all or nothing for a prize fish and started unpacking the carp rods.

After an hour of finding the right peg I settled down and fired some free offerings of bait into a few likely areas.
One rod next to the old water pump bridge, one rod to the side of the tree stumps and the last rod tight against the margins of the lake.

The bait of choice was a boilie and partical mix with 2-3mm feed pellets and chopped boilies in a pva bag with the hookbait.

It didnt take long for a rounded mirror carp to fall foul of the hook. A quick weigh in at 9lb on the nose swiftly followed by his mate who also couldnt get enough of my pellet and boilie feed. 8lb9oz.

Not all was finished when the magin rod started to have a few investivations as the bite alarm sounded from line bites.
Sure enough the alarm screamed off soon after and I was back in action again.
She wanted to show me who was boss by taking me into just about every snag of the old pumping tower however she didnt account for the 2.5lb test curve carp rod controlled by myself with a net to seal the deal.

A stunning reward with perfect colours and features weighing a moderate 26.8lb FB_IMG_1507990594436.jpg

As I slipped her back into the net to rest after an amazing fight I was interupted again by rod 2 in the tree line. This had to be a dream come true and no sooner I had a chance to digest the previous 3 catches I was pushing the net under the best of the fish of the day.

A stunning 28.5lb common carp.

Upon placing her onto the unhooking mat I first cast my eyes on her making my eyes pop with excitement. All those years of waiting to see what swam in this lake had now been answered by my own hand. I felt amazing with a huge sense of achievement in tow.

Those are some healthy looking carp. Nothing beats a fishery that receives little to no pressure.

The place is a little gem and since then have been back to find a few more lurkers. I will keep that for another day.

The carp sure are stunning and never seen a hook between them, they dont half show that with an amazing run..

Cant wait, im lookin forward to more of your stories.

Plenty more fishing related stories to come. Its all I have done since a young age will do until I am no longer able.
