South Texas Fishing

I always equate South Texas to a few things; Whataburger, breakfast tacos, BBQ, hunting and Fishing. I love each of those things in different ways. But fishing holds a special place in my heart.

Ever since I can remember I have been a fisherman. I grew up on waking up early and heading over to the Oso bay in Corpus Christi, Tx and wading out to my waist in mud, fishing for reds and trout. My uncle always needed a fishing buddy so he would take me.

We would always show up before the sun came up. We would bring the cast nets to the edge of the water in search of finger mullet. We used the mullet as bait. Why buy bait when you could catch it yourself. We caught enough each time to fill our live wells, then we would walk out into the muddy water until we got to “the spot.” We caught a bunch of fish in that spot. In the recent years Uncle Willie got a boat and his name changed to Captain Willie. So we started fishing off the boat.

We have successfully fished all over the inter coastal.

We have successfully eaten all of the fish too!

What a dream to be able to fish such plentiful waters since your childhood! God bless your uncle! Though I have only been to an airport in Texas on my way to another destination, I have longed for the opportunity at harvesting some of the abundant fish and game that call that land home. Maybe when @myhuntingfishing finally gets its 500K Steem delegation from @steemit or @misterdelegation, haha. Or any other generous delegators! Hell, we'd make due with 50K and could probably go full time with a permanent 100K delegation. One can only hope. In all seriousness, the fish look beautiful and delicious! Steem on!

All the pics were impressive until I came to the final one of the yummy looking cooked fish. OH MY! Made my mouth water. Really. Looks like great fun. Here in Nevada, good fishing is a challenge to find at times. One of my biggest bitches about where I live.

Ya I’m sure there is not much fishing out there. I’m in Southern CA now and it’s different. I miss the South Texas fishing but it’s still pretty good here.

On your first pic, the fish on top looks like king fish, is not it?

Thank you for sharing !

No, they do look like king fish but those are speckeled trout.

Ah ok!

Thank you again hihi
