TOP 4 UNHEALTHY JUICES IN SUPERMARKETS YOU SHOULD STOP BUYING
These days supermarkets are full of packaged foods and some of them are labeled as healthy food but they are not.
How can a food which has added sugar and trans-fat can be healthy? And why no one is questioning that?
Obesity is rising so rapidly worldwide but no one is tense and everyday new food products are coming in the market and publish their product as healthy.
Today we are going to see some products which are labeled as healthy but they are not…
UNHEALTHY PRODUCTS LABELLED AS HEALTHY
REAL FRUIT JUICE
Today I come across an ad for real fruit juice and they are playing tricks on people. They claim that one pack of real fruit juice give 2X fruit requirement.
There were many celebrities who endorsed these fruit juices. Will this celebrity send a pack of Real fruit juice every day with their children? Absolutely not.
Does this brand or ad maker think that parents are stupid?
Let’s take a look at facts
Water,
Mixed Fruit Concentrate (12.03%) [Apple Juice Conc (4.72%), Orange Juice Conc (2.7%), Guava Puree (0.7%), Apricot Puree Conc (0.65%), Mango Pulp Conc (0.5%), Banana Puree (0.46%), Lime Juice Conc (0.28%), Passion Fruit Juice Conc (0.23%), Guava Puree Conc (0.18%), Pineapple Juice Conc (0.05%)]
Sugar,
Acidity Regulator (INS 330),
Antioxidant (INS 300),
Stabilizer (INS 440)
contains permitted natural color (INS 160a(ii) & (iii)) and added flavors (natural and nature identical flavoring substances)
- This fruit juice contains 12% fruit concentrate. So on what basis they are claiming that one pack provides 2X fruit requirement. Since there is no such legal law in India for such ridiculous claims, these big brands are coming up with fake information.
- The main point of concern is the amount of sugar. Label says 100 ml contains 8g of added sugar while the tetra pack is 200 ml it means there is 16g of added sugar in one pack. Why do kids need such a heavy load of sugar?
- Let’s take a look at artificial additives-number starting with INS. This is added to increase the shelf life of the product. The shelf life of these products is around 7 months but how many days a fruit juice takes to rot at home…2-3 days, isn’t it? These brands don’t even mention the side effects of these additives if consume on a daily basis.
- The packs mention calcium and iron in nutrition table to support their tagline “healthy is happy” but a tiny amount of calcium and iron is just a waste because our body is not going to absorb that nutrients as they have very low bio-availability.
Stop buying such junk foods especially those fruit juices.
Most of the packaged food brands want their customers to get hooked to there product and buy them on daily basis.
More customers = More profit. Don’t get fooled by just seeing there tv ads or banners read the label and get the right knowledge and be extremely vigilant about what we/children are eating/drinking on a daily basis.
TANG
One of the worst drinks available in the market is tang. In 100g of tang gives you 94g of sugar around 94% of the content is sugar. And actual orange fruit powder is 0.8% only.
The tv ad of tang shows that we need to drink 8 glasses of water per day. Isn’t this is the brand that has been accused or called out as misleading by ASCI (Advertising Standard Council of India)? But still, they are showing the same ads. Then why there are such regulatory authorities who are doing nothing. They are also saying that tangs provide you vitamin c, vitamin a, and iron but are they bioavailable? And for those minuscule numbers of vitamins, I am not going to drink loads of sugar.
We need water to stay hydrated no sugar loaded water.
TROPICANA
Another brand claims that one package provides juice equivalent to 17 oranges but do you realize how much fructose does that provide? Approx. 51g of fruit sugar (fructose) that’s a lot to harm your liver if you are consuming on a daily basis.
A Tropicana 100% juice nutrition label shows that it has 22 g of sugar per serving and it isn’t fresh from the orange.
These juices are heavily processed that they would be undrinkable if flavor packs are not added into them. A new technology that is able to mimic the simplicity of fresh juice.
Fruit juice isn’t the same as real fruit because it got as much sugar as any sugary drink. They also get absorbed very fast that by the time it reaches our stomach our body does not know whether it’s juice or soft-drink.
We don’t recommend drinking such waste products and don’t let it beautiful packaging or advertisement fool you – it is extremely harmful to your body.
Paper boat
A pack of one paper boat juice will give you enough sugar to spike insulin levels.
There’s a lot of sugar and not a little bit sugar as a website state.
A 250 ml of pack costs you Rs. 30 comes with zero benefits.
It’s just water, mango pulp and sugar. Think once what you are drinking or eating and does it provide you any health benefit.
