Day 64:) 5 Hours Rule
Did you ever come across such a rule in a text book or heard anyone describing? In case you have been following elite successful people, the chances are higher that you know. This is one of the most common attributes, you can observe in them.
What is 5 Hours Rule?
One spends 5 hours a week or say one hour a day for his own development. It can be by reading, upskilling, thinking and many other ways. Maybe you don’t have the time, after the quarantine is relaxed you will be occupied. However, people like Zuckerberg, Bill, Oprah and many more take out time to follow this rule deliberately. For us taking out an hour shouldn’t be that difficult.
Generally, people use this time for reading purpose. Gates has been known to read 50 books a year. Warren spends 80% of his time reading. Elon Musk grew up reading 2 books per day. There are many more examples. You might be wondering How does reading help?
The image beautiful explains how fruitful reading is. Moreover, research suggests that reading a novel improves connectivity in brain and functioning too. Regular reading also slows the process of memory loss and sharpen our brain.
People invest this time in self-reflection and thinking. Being busy with day to day life, we forgot the most important person in our life, oneself. You can spend the time with yourself and know better. You can pen down your thoughts too.
Learning and development is unending task till we are alive on this Universe. You may not like to learn, but you can change. Start with baby steps. Instead of 5 hours rule you can start with 50 minutes a week and keep on increasing it. Hope you take an action from this week :)
