Air Cleaning Plants - A Breath Of Nature In Your Home Or Office
Having house plants that clean air can be a great addition to any home or office. If you do not like to have windows opened than this house plants might help in providing a solution to the stuffy air in the room. Having house plants around you also brings calming effect and reduces stress. Below is a list of a few air-cleaning houseplants that improve indoor air quality.
Each plant has its own characteristics when it needs to be watered. But majority depend on the timing for watering according to how humid or dry is their soil. Some plants prefer for their soil to be more humid while others prefere it to be more dry.
Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is also an ingredient of some of high quality hand and body creams because it is known for its regenerating properties powers.
Temperature
Optimal temperature for Aloe vera is 26°C – 30°C. Minimum temperature that Aloe Vera can live in is 5°C.
Sun & shade position
Try to find Aloe Vera part sunny or half shaded place in your house.
Watering
Aloe Vera must be watered when its soil has dried out. If the soil of the Aloe Vera is too humid than your plant can start rotting. The soil preferred for Aloe Vera must allow the water to drain away fairly quickly. The best soil for Aloe Vera is the one used for cactuses and succulents.
Boston Fern
Brings a piece of forest to your home.
Temperature
Preferred air temperature for Boston fern is between 16°C and 21°C - optimal temperature is around 18°C - 20°C degrees celzius(66℉). In the hot summer days and winter heating days fern likes to be sprayed with lukewarm water.
Sun & shade position
Boston fern preferes to be in the shade. It should not be to heavily esposed to sunrays during the summer.
Watering
Boston fern needs to be watered before the soil starts to dry out. The timing of this will depend on the temperature and the place in the house where the plant is placed.
Dragon-tree
Red edged dracena or dragon tree is easy to care for air-cleaning plants which makes it for offices.
Temperature
Preferred living temperature for this plant is 15°C – 24°C.
Sun & shade position
It should be located in the bright but shaded place.
Watering
Dragon tree needs to be watered when at least three quarters of the soil in the pot have dried out.. In the summertime and during winter days when heating is turned on it likes to be sprayed with water over the leaves.
Spider-plant
Temperature
Preferred living air temperature for this plant is 15°C – 24°C.
Sun & shade position
It should be located in the bright but shaded place.
Watering
Spider plant needs to be watered when the soil at the top has dried up 1 or 2 cm from top. In the summertime it likes to be sprayed with water over the leaves.
