Cooking At Home: Goulash
Hi everyone. Goulash is central European spicy meat stew originating from Hungary. Its taste is defined by the addition of a large quantity of paprika and other spices, usually caraway. Goulash is cooked slowly and you will need to spend a few hours preparing it, however, it is worth the effort.
To prepare it you will need:
900g beef steak, chopped into small cubes
600g of potato, chopped into cubes
50g of butter
2 large onions, chopped
1 clove of garlic
1l of water
5 tablespoons of paprika
1/2 teaspoon of caraway seed
Salt
Pepper
Place the butter in the soup pot and heat it until it melts. Add onions and beef. Stir until the onions soften and the beef turns brown, then add paprika, caraway, and garlic. Fill the pot with water and simmer at low heat. After cooking for two and a half hours put the potato cubes, salt, and pepper into the mix and cook for another hour, also at low heat. Your spicy goulash is now ready. Bon appetit!
