how to prepare Fish cracklings
It is always good to have recipes to prepare fish in different ways, since this is a fantastic source of proteins and nutrients. Fish cracklings is a very simple and traditional way of preparing fish meat, especially tempting for children. Keep reading to learn how to cook the fish crackling quickly and easily and you will see that you will adopt it as a fixed menu on your table.
𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬
1 kg (2.2 lb) of fish
2 eggs
1/2 cup cornstarch (corn starch)
1/2 cup flour
juice of 2 lemons
frying oil
salt and pepper
𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰.
- Cut the fish into small pieces. It can be any kind of fish, such as hake fillet or tilapia. Cut them into elongated dice and make sure you remove all the spines.
- Season the fish. In a bowl place the fish cubes and add salt, pepper and lemon juice. Let marinate for 1 hour.
- Beat the eggs. Once the maceration time has passed, pass the fish through the egg mixture.
- Pass the pieces of fish through Flour. On a large plate mix the flour with the cornstarch and pass the fish cubes until they are all completely covered with flour.
- Fry the fish. Heat a pan with plenty of oil and fry the pieces of fish on both sides to brown evenly.
Remove the pieces and place them on absorbent paper or paper towels to drain and absorb the grease.
Fry them in batches, do not put the fish dice on top of each other. Make sure the oil is hot before introducing the new pieces.
- Serve accompanied by the sauce you prefer: mayonnaise, tartar, criollo sauce, or chili. If you wish, you can accompany it with vegetables, banana, cassava or potatoes previously fried, as well as with rice or salad as garnish. Enjoy it!
