Are you a punctual person? : Lunch @ De Gulden Bock (Antwerp, Belgium)

in #food7 years ago (edited)

A friend of mine and I planned to have a lunch meeting at a lovely Mediterranean restaurant, called De Gulden Bock in Antwerp, Belgium.

I arrived at the restaurant ontime, so ordered a glass of champagne and told the waiter that I'd order my food when my friend is here. She is one of my closest friends. I love her dearly, but she is sometimes late, to be precise, always late, for 15~30mins, and this time was a record breaking- late for 1.5h(!). I ended up having to drink 3 glasses of champagne before she finally arrived. (her excuse was 'bad traffic' : ))

Anyway, the food was lovely as always. They have these trays of different dishes beautifully displayed at the counter, and you just tell the waiter what you'd like while looking at them. They heat it up in the kitchen, then bring it to the table.

Their green salad (consists of green asparagus, artichoke, califlower, green leaves, quail eggs, etc with some kind of secret homemade green sauce) is amazing, incredibly fresh and crispy.

It's located in the middle of the posh shopping street in Antwerp, which is known for Belgium's most fashionable city.

It doesn't usually bother me when people are late, but waiting at a restaurant for 1.5h was not predicted :D By the way, she is Japanese. I think Japanese people are usually very punctual though!

Are you punctual or the other one who's chronically late?

I like your Europe section,it makes me cozy.
Was she a long way?
In such a wonderful place, you would have been an elegant time.( ・∀・)

Thanks for reading @mdn! To get to this restaurant, I think it takes her normally about 20 mins by car from where she lives. I was starving while waiting for her!

I have very little (almost none) tolerance for unpunctual people. It really irritates me! However, it is pretty cool that you used that time you waited wisely to take yummy pictures and write this post.

Thanks for your comment, yes that's true @jessicapixie, I had a chance to create this post :D

Hey Anna-belle. Nice article. I must admit I'm always late and I'm struggling sometimes to be punctual. However, 1h30 it's a bit too much. I think my worse delay was 30 min ( not proud hihi)

Hehe no worries valentinas, I confess I tend to be late as well.. You know that feeling when you arrived at wherever a meeting place actually ontime (even before)? Proud! : )

Oh yes ! That's a nice feeling :)

Im usually on time, or early...coz I hate waiting...maybe I dont wanna be late myself...hehe
Yummy food!

Thanks for your comment thoughtsatdawm, I also hate the feeling when i'm running late, I'm out of breath, panicking, trying to run a bit in heels etc, not great at all :D
