Healthy Apple Cider Vinegar mocktails!!!!!!!!!!!

in #food7 years ago

Apple cider vinegar is one of the hottest topics right now it's everywhere you turn and I figured I would give you my two top apple cider vinegar recipes these are simple little cocktails that just have everyday ingredients you probably have in your pantry.

I'm going to break down some of the science on; how apple cider vinegar is going to help you along with some of the ingredients that can complement the effects the apple cider vinegar, when it comes to your blood glucose, your immune system and your overall mood.

So let’s get started!!!!

First is kind of a super cocktail and you've probably seen renditions of it before except I'm using limes instead of lemons.

Super Detox Drink

Ingredients:
• 16 ounces hot water.
• 2 tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar 2 tablespoons.
• Cayenne pepper
• Ground ginger ¼ teaspoon.
• Cinnamon
• Lime juice 1 teaspoon.
• OPTIONAL -1 teaspoon raw, local honey, agave, stevia

Why apple cider vinegar?

Apple cider home.jpg

It contains something called acetic acid and this is really the root of why it's so beneficial.

What that acetic acid does is it affects your glut glucose quite dramatically and there's one study that in particular I found which was pretty interesting.

In the study they took three groups of individuals, one group that had pre-diabetes, one group that had diabetes and one group of seemingly healthy normal people.

What they did is they gave them one ounce of apple cider vinegar and then had them consume a bagel. That bagel had some butter on it and a glass of orange juice.

Then they looked into their blood glucose levels after consuming that high carbohydrate meal well across the board; they all saw a decrease in their overall blood glucose in fact the pre-diabetic group saw a 50% reduction in blood glucose and the diabetic groups eye 25% reduction in blood glucose.

So if you kick starting your day with apple cider vinegar you're setting the pace and making sure that your body is metabolizing carbohydrates quite a bit better then additionally the acetic acid has some huge effects when it comes to your immune system.

Mycobacterium one of the most lethal and fatal bacteria out there, and apple cider vinegar is one of the only compounds that has been shown to actually kill off this antibiotic resistant form of bacteria that just gives you an idea of the overall power of apple cider vinegar.

Think about what it's doing inside your body.

Cayenne pepper:

Just put about a quarter teaspoon of cayenne pepper in there, essentially what you're getting out of that is something called capsaicin; which helps out your metabolism gets things going but it also has something called substance P, it helps to nullifies some of the signaling from your nerves; so it can actually reduce nerve pain and they can actually reduce joint pain.

So if you're someone that's stiff when you first get up in the morning that's going to make a big difference.

Ground Ginger:

Next add about a quarter teaspoon to a half teaspoon of ground ginger, this is for digestive support and for circulation. So it's going to help your gut in the morning and help you digest a little bit better if you take it first thing in the morning.

Cinnamon:

Add about quarter teaspoon into the mix.

From cinnamon we're getting more digestive benefits and more blood glucose benefit just like apple cider vinegar, one other benefit of cinnamon is the fact you actually get lipid metabolism improvement too.

So if you're someone that has an issue with digesting fats or you have a gallbladder issue or maybe you just get kind of bloated whenever you have a high amount of fat this would be a great solution.

Lime:

Now we are going to add the star of the show the limes.

Limes actually have higher components of lemon in it so the main benefit that we get out of limonene is what it does to our liver enzymes.

It temporarily elevates our liver enzymes which means that our liver is working at a higher capacity, it means that our ability to detox is improved temporarily.

So when we're getting all these ingredients combined we're getting a pretty massive influx of immune support, blood sugar control and of course a detox your system.

Last but not least I'm simply going to add about 10 to 12 fluid ounces of water. You can add a little bit of honey or a little bit of stevia, but this is really all you need to start your day and it actually doesn't taste that bad.

It's a little bit powerful but it wakes you up, kicks your button get you going for the start of the day.

Strawberry ACV mocktail:

Ingredients:
• 1 cup water
• 2 tablespoons fresh muddled strawberry
• 2 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar
• 1 tablespoon lime juice
• Optional: 1 teaspoon raw, local honey

This was one that I discover not that long ago, this one is actually one that you want to have a little bit later in the day. I don't recommend starting your day with this one.

Take some muddled up strawberries, looks a little bit nasty because they've been muddled up but it’s okay.

Defrost it a little bit and smash them up a little bit with a fork and add it to the bottom of a cup. I know it looks gross but trust me on this you’ll be fine.

I suggest using strawberries because they have super low glycemic you can also use raspberry simply because you're going to get the fibre foam so it's going to keep you full but you're not having this major spike in your GI index. And you are not going to have a big blood glucose spike.

Okay then add in a whole lime in there, I'm a big fan of limes in case you haven't figured that out.

Then of course it wouldn't be an apple cider vinegar drink without a little bit of apple cider vinegar, so add about two tablespoons of it .

And at last add eight to ten fluid ounces of water to it.

If you want you can add a little bit of honey but I recommend stevia or agave.

I would recommend having this drink right after dinner simply because it's going to help you but digest the benefit and also going to be a little bit sweet and give you that nice little semi pseudo dessert kind of mock up. So you don't feel like diving into the cheesecake.

So there you have it two very simple apple cider vinegar recipes that you can use one in the morning and one at night.

One to kick start your day and help your immune system and the other to keep you satiated and give you the benefit and help drop down the blood glucose after that overbearing dinner.
