STATUS
So unfortunate, but that is how life revolves. We all have a status in life. From being a beggar up to being a King, whether we are there due to choice or fate. Where we are is not the issue, but how we handle and deal with it.
I was fortunate enough to be brought up by parents for who status meant nothing. Dad was a farmer. He taught me that the most important people on the farm were the labourers; not only as workers but also as human beings. If they were not happy and content, he would not be able to farm. He was a very stern boss but treated people in such a way that they respected him. As a child I was allowed to visit them in the accommodation he provided and I enjoyed supper a lot of times with them. Never will I forget the evenings around the fire listening to their stories. Stories that taught me that they have the same issues, problems and emotions like wealthy people.
I later worked in a commercial bank under a manager with the same values. He taught us that the cleaner and the messenger were equally important as anybody else in the bank. If the offices and front were dirty, we will lose clients. If the messenger is not loyal, he could give away information that could lead to a robbery. The clerk doing the postings is just as important as the girl doing reception. It is due to the clerk that the books are balancing. Seniors in that specific branch knew that they were only part of a stepladder in an important business.
Never estimate yourself more important than others. What you have today may be lost within the blink of an eye. You may find yourself tomorrow looking up to the people whom you were looking down on yesterday. Life is like an ocean full of swells, today you may be riding on a wave only to be washed away tomorrow.
The truth is: It doesn’t matter to God whether you are a beggar or a king, HE LOVES YOU. He does not teach us to look DOWN on others, but ask us to look UP to Him.
