BANANA FRIES W/ GARLIC

fullsizeoutput_2f27.jpeg

Hello everyone my fellow #steemians! Today, I wanna share to you this healthy snack and I hope you’ll like it.

I had made banana fries before I made this posting and I want to add that for people who must monitor their blood glucose, green bananas have resistant starch which is less likely to elevate blood glucose.

My mom has type 2 #diabetes, so I’m making banana fries as one of her healthy snacks. They are delicious and healthy!

What are the benefits of Green Banana?

Although the green banana is simply an unripened yellow banana, it has different uses. While you can eat the yellow banana immediately after peeling, the green banana is best eaten cooked, either boiled or fried.

Nutritionally, the green banana is a good source of fiber, vitamins and minerals, and contains a starch that may help control blood sugar, manage weight and lower blood cholesterol levels.

So if you’re careful with your diet you can substitute junk french fries with this healthy banana fries instead.

So here we go.

Preparation:

Serves: 6
Prep 10 min
Cook 5 min
Ready 15 min

You need:

  • knife
  • garlic crusher
  • chopping board

Ingredients:

  • 5 small unripe (green) bananas
  • olive oil for frying
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • salt to taste

Directions:

  • Peel the bananas using a knife, as they are not ripe and will not peel like a yellow banana.

  • Slice into long thin wedges or strings to make fries.

  • Crush garlic using a garlic crusher. Scrape into paste: Holding the blunt side of the knife with both hands, press and scrape the sharp end of the knife against the pile of garlic at an angle to flatten the garlic. And spread the paste and salt to sliced bananas.

  • Heat the oil in a heavy deep skillet over medium-high heat. If you have a deep-fryer, heat the oil to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Place the banana fries into the hot oil, and fry until golden brown, 5 to 7 minutes.

  • Remove from the oil, and drain on paper towels. Pat off the excess oil, and season with salt. Serve immediately.

And say hello to your #bananafries
It’s yummy and good for your body. You can dip it with your favourite sauce. Enjoy!

The healthy snack was awesome! I made my healthy burger today and felt a bit naughty eating it but this healthy fries would be awesome addition to my daily guilt free eating binges.
