Hungry Hungry Hump Day Episode 3
What did we cover.
To start off I shared about my trip to @ravijojla 's house and we made traditional yorkshire puddings, it was a great convo and I particularly loved when @shadowspub explained another method about putting the roast on a tray when it was almost cooked and letting the meat juices drip onto the yorkshire puddings.

We also chatted about a traditional sunday roast, and the importance it had in the UK and that the yorkshire pudding plays a very large part of it. Because it's fall season I tend to turn to foods that are comfort foods which are filling and satisfying so I shared a post I had previously done called mince and dumplings.
Sharing how this cheap dish is made and how satisfying and filling it is, during which I was chatting with @snook who told me about the wonderful memories that came back, and some of the recipes could be related to the depression cooking that happened in the 1920's.
Which reminds me,
I happened to mention about a series of video's about depression cooking on youtube which I found really interesting, I enclose one of the video's for you to watch, seeing how people with very little money could come up with in the kitchen.
Sadly Clara has passed away but I loved watching these videos, I am sure you will too.
We also talked about an ingredient, we used in the dumplings called suet. Dumplings are very easy to make which you need flour, a fat salt and water to make a dough, which can then be put in soups and stews or can be baked in the oven which go crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside.
Suet particularly beef suet comes from your joint of beef which is the thick layer of fat that is often removed, this is what we use in many dishes. Including sweet mince pies and christmas pudding at christmas. You can get a vegetable version but I have no idea how that is created.
Then afterwards we headed over to South Africa where @freetissues had shared an amazing recipe fogive if the spelling is wrong Banija which is basically half a loaf of bread hollowed out and filled with curry.
I have no doubt after @lizelle featured in the first show that the dish not only looks awesome but tastes amazing. I have promised to cook a chilli recipe for @freetissues for him to maybe try as a banija to see if it holds its own as it used chunks of meat and not minced meat.
And if you want the freshest bread of all, well you have to bake your own and in order to do that @jackmiller shared his wifes recipe for a homemade loaf doesn't that look amazing foodies??
On the subject of curries.
I happened to find this cheeky little budget meal dish created by @lizelle in the cook for you competition which was a pilchard and lentil curry, really made with your basic ingredients but with a good dash of spices which really makes it look wonderful and filling
Its not just the cooking of @lizelle that I love but it is how her food looks like a work of art too.
Now for desert.
Something I explained that we from the uk everything that is desert is a pudding, so if someone asks do you want ice cream, its pudding, if you want cake its pudding, everything is pudding in the uk.
And boy do we have some amazing puddings to share with you lets start off with @joyrobinson, who shared an amazing dish. Think of cooking a pancake but not in a traditional sense of in a frying pan but in the oven.
Yep with this method you never have to worry about the flip method at all, simply more is adding the batter and fruit to an oven baked dish and baking it whole, you come out with an amazing desert the whole family is sure to love.
Secondly this takes me back to my childhood which we called a bread and butter pudding, which @fmbs25 shared, which instead of using ordinary bread she did with brioch check out that richy syrup looking topping, someone hand me the custard.
Contests
A contest that was brought to my attention by a captain even crazier than I, which is our very own @dreemsteem has created a contest called a Delicious Dare the concept which I love, she provides three ingredients and you have to come up with a dish containing these ingredients, Prize up for grabs is 5 SBD, go forth and preheat that oven.

@freetissues announced the winner of last weeks contest live on air and the winner was @birdsinparadise who created a Butternut Ancho Chili, and in the process of this cheap and cheerful meal has won themselves 10 steem well done a worthy winner indeed.

I remember those depression era videos. If I recall correctly her grandson got her to do them. If you're on a tight budget those videos are a great way to learn how to cook well for cheap.

Oh my word you made me so hungry @crazybgadventure, I was listening as I was doing our tax, my most hated job ever! But your show made it bearable! I can see that South African cookery has been greatly influenced by British cookery as we use a lot of the same terms, we also like big Sunday lunches with pudding afterwards :)

ooooh my bread pudding, it's really delicious, love the recipe of @birdsinparadise I was just hungry to see it, that bread from @jackmiller looks so appetizing, in general all the recipes are spectacular, I finished reading the publication very hungry, What an honor you will take into account my recipe, kisses and greetings. Yorkshire puddings are so delicious, I love them for a rich breakfast, and the best thing is how easy they are to prepare.
