9/18 Day 4 The Dog Diet

in #food7 years ago

Three days is a long time to fast when you're not used to being challenged. It amazes me how far down the tube I have gone. There was a time where I would constantly push myself to do new things. Where I was down for whatever, whenever, and I cared about my physical well being. It's not that I don't care, but that I have not cared to care. Complacency is the enemy of success. I have been keeping this diet going so far. It hasn't been a week, but hey. I have avoided cheating and kept a smile on my face despite being totally out of my element.

I broke my initial fast with a late dinner on Saturday because I realized I had last eaten dinner Wednesday, so dinner made more sense than breakfast the next day. The deciding process was interesting because I was forced to consider whether my mind was making excuses to get food into my stomach or if I was being smart. In the end, I did what I wanted and I'm not going to worry about it. I broke the fast with my first ever vegetarian burrito from Qdoba. Obviously I won't be eating fast food after Saturday, but I figured, what the heck.

Yesterday (Sunday) and today I have been diligent in eating properly. I am focusing on my mindset, reminding myself that I am eating this way for my future, not for my taste buds. It truly has not been too bad so far, but again, it's the second day. I have been drinking tea, also. I am very interested in herbs and spices, so drinking tea and tisanes from the various herbs I am collecting. My meal breakdown is as follows, with few variations so far.

Breakfast: 2 bananas, 2 medium carrots, 1 stalk celery, 1 serving oatmeal w/ cinnamon, honey and raisins.

Lunch: Salad w/ balsamic dressing, 1 apple

Dinner: 1 baked potato, Salad using kale and the various vegetables I have.

I am feeling good so far. I had begun to worry that I would not eat all the things I need to stay healthy, but I realize now that anything is better than what I was doing before. Beyond that, I am not concerned with what I am doing. I have been walking and tonight I will start actually exercising again with calisthenics and some heavy bag work. I have been taking photos, so maybe one day I will post them.
