selfmade sushi is an art in itself

in #food7 years ago (edited)

Hey everybody,

some time ago I bought a sushi starter set for my friends birthday. Now it was time to try it out.

I found this starter set on the internet: https://www.reishunger.de/produkt/73/sushi-box?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI9r-Tg6qq1QIViBXTCh1Umg_3EAQYASABEgKpxPD_BwE.

We decided to make Maki and Nigiri, so we bought salmon, cucumber and avocado. Otherwise you find everyting you need in the starter set. We cooked the rice, what you shouldn't underestimate. That special sushi rice is more difficult to cook than normal rice.

Then we put the algae leaves on the bamboo mat, the rice on it and then you fill it with everything you want.

You have to roll the bamboo mat now. I never thought I can do this, but its easier than you think! You can also watch a few videos about it ;)

In the last step you only have to cut the sushi roll.

I am sure this is not the most beautiful sushi plate you have ever seen, but its so much fun (and also not expensive)!
Now I am looking forward to expanding my sushi skills!
And as we say in Germany: Es ist noch kein Meister vom Himmel gefallen! (No one is born a master)

Have a great evening!
