Today's Sustainable Feast in the Garden of Eden
We're giving thanks for another lovely day in the Garden of Eden and another lovely feast!
There's more than enough of everything, and it is our duty & pleasure to share it. If you or anyone you know wants or needs food, contact us - we will give you free food, no questions asked. We make this offer every single day; we are here to help one and all.
For the full time volunteers that live here, we prepared a delicious, nutritious meal in our sustainable outdoor kitchen today! It's a bit gray and rainy here, which means it's perfect soup weather! We made a rich and flavorful sweet potato soup, a bright cucumber salad, sautéed vegetables, and aromatic and fluffy brown basmati rice for today's feast.
Today's soup was not only delicious and unique, but it was also super efficient - yesterday we made an enormous pot of vegetable soup over our handmade rocket stoves and only ate half of it. We blended the other half with spices like cinnamon and nutmeg to give it a completely different taste and texture for today's feast! It's like 2 soups for the effort of 1!
The flavors married overnight, and today we simply reheated the creamy, rich, decadent sweet potato soup. Then we danked it up for serving with crumbles of feta cheese, chopped cashews, sweet & chewy dried cranberries, and some fresh chives from the garden. It was super sophisticated but very easy!
We had some cucumber salad left over from yesterday too that got more flavorful as the veggies marinated in the simple dressing of olive oil & our homemade strawberry vinegar.
Our chef made a perfect pot of fluffy brown basmati rice with lots of spices & flavors including a cinnamon stick and onion.
We served some yummy sautéed veggies over the rice. This is a nice medley of broccoli rabe, onions, and colorful bell peppers with garlic and some liquid aminos.
It was a delicious, healthful, high vibe feast with plenty of food for everyone to have as much as they wanted!
Food is important, and we hope to inspire people to really take time to eat, enjoy it, and share it with someone you love. We also hope to inspire more and more sustainable practices in regards to food!

Great place...nice people keeping it real...😍
That is such a great idea how you guys made 2 different soups from 1 soup, I'll have to try this out. I absolutely love how you guys really put so much love into your food and you make it so easy. I am totally inspired by this, so will be following you for sure and can't wait to see more. I never even thought of putting nutmeg or cinnamon into a soup. I would have to try it one day.
We are embracing the importance of food!
We are dedicated to not only delicious food, but sustainable and healthy food!
We have an entire community of people to feed so we need lots of it. We have found a very nice routine and efficient methods to accomplish this every day!
I can totally see your guys' love for food, and health. I'm very inspired by it. I think that a routine and efficiency are the keys to do what you do. But first of all is the love and passion you guys put into this. It really takes talent to provide the entire community with not just food but really healthy and beautiful food.
That looks like a health bomb! 💣 and it's a reminder for me to eat more vegetables instead of Spaghetti Bolognese 😋
Our children would not like to see such things on the table.. but my hope is with age and consciousness for healthy food we can also vary our meals and must not prepare two different meals for the family like we do from time to time if we really want something like that which our kids don't like.
Looks very delicious! Thank you!
This is why we provide healthy food every day since the children are little. It is just normal for them and they LOVE it!
You're lucky! We have always different vegetables at breakfast and also many russian receipts by my mother-in-law which are very healthy i think. It depends also which children, one likes a vegetable soup others don't but we always try 😉 Thank you!

Thank you so much! I actually just wrote about a very difficult experience I had in getting food at a food bank in Washington, USA https://steemit.com/advocacy/@blackvelvetroses/this-aint-feta-this-is-mold-tales-of-going-to-the-food-bank-today. I truly appreciate organizations like yours that give me hope there are legitimate sources for emergency food. Good work! :) UPvoted, Following, and REsteemed!
