Rice sticky rice steamed into a pulut called bulukat, has an important meaning in the tradition of Aceh society. In fact, almost every ceremony held in Aceh, never escaped with the dish of the menu of bulukat. The people of Aceh called it Khanduri Bulukat.

It is said that in the Malim Diwa Saga which is told from generation to generation, bulukat means taking blessing and avoiding the anger of Malem Diwa character. Since then, the bulukat served at each ceremony has various purposes. On other occasions, there is also a particular purpose of the presentation of bulukat.
