For example nuts contain various nutrients for the body. Carbohydrates also contribute to the survival of good bacteria in the gut. Here are other reasons that make you not need to avoid carbohydrates as written The Independent (30/12).
Beans are superfood
Nuts such as pods, lentils, peanuts, and chickpeas are often avoided by low carb or paleo dieters due to high carbohydrates. Even so, nuts are superfoods high in protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. In addition, the price is cheap and easy to obtain. Nothing wrong with the nuts in the daily diet.
Carbohydrate trim does not improve the performance of athletes
There is a myth saying low-carb diet makes athletes perform better. In fact, athletes do not perform better when eating low-carbohydrate foods. Athletes who underwent a low-carb diet and a high-carbo diet have the same performance for durability. But in terms of running, high-carb dieters show better performance.
Carbohydrates do not cause brain damage
Some sources claim carbohydrates cause dangerous brain inflammation. But this has not been proven. In contrast, the facts show Mediterranean dieters who eat whole grains (containing carbohydrates) in large numbers have lower mental retardation associated with age and lower risk of Alzheimer's disease as well.
Longevity people eat a lot of carbohydrates
Okinawa Island in Japan has a population of over 100 years old and over in the world. They apparently consume lots of yams, green vegetables, and nuts. 69% of daily calories even comes from the consumption of sweet potatoes.
So also with residents on Ikaria Island, Greece. 1 out of 3 people live up to the age of 90 years. They eat lots of nuts, potatoes, and bread.
See the nutritional food as a whole
Looking at the nutrients of the food should not as a whole not per single nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, or fats alone. Carbohydrates do not directly cause obesity or other serious illness. This condition is influenced by many contexts and varies between people.
There are people who stay healthy because they eat a little carbohydrates, and some are still healthy despite eating lots of carbohydrates. Carbohydrates need not be completely avoided, but can also be included as part of a healthy diet.
