Cooking Recipes: Buttermilk Biscuits
Bonjour les ami(e)s. In case you're wondering, that means hello friends. Feel free to approach me for French lessons. Just kidding lol. Anyway, guess what we're making today? Buttermilk biscuits!
All you'll need for this recipe is,
. 250 grams all-purpose flour
. Two tsp baking powder
. One tsp salt
. 1/4 tsp baking soda
. 100 grams salted butter, chilled and sliced thinly
. 180 ml cold buttermilk
. Two tbsp buttermilk for brushing
And now for the baking bit,
. Preheat your oven to 220º C.
. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
. Mix the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
. Use a pastry blender to mix the butter into the flour mixture for five minutes or until the blend looks like coarse crumbs.
. Afterward, make a well and pour in the buttermilk then stir.
. Now onto a working surface, make a rectangular dough and fold it in thirds then in half. Flatten it back and repeat the folding process twice while gathering in any crumbs.
. Roll the dough to about 1/2 inches thick and cut out 12 biscuits using a 2 1/2" round biscuit cutter.
. Place them on the set baking sheet, make a thumb indent on each piece, and brush the tops with the two tablespoons of buttermilk.
. Bake until they brown or for at least 15 minutes.
. Let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
Congratulations, you made your first batch of buttermilk biscuits! Enjoy!
God bless you. @biblegateway
