What I've ate recently

in #food26 days ago

So I have been really good, and not had any takeaway!

Sometimes it's really easy to fall into the bad habit of I'll just get a takeaway, especially when you're really tired and don't want to cook. I've been really good and not done takeaway at all! I've been making my own meals, not even doing ready-meals!

cream stew

A nice comfort meal, and it lasted me about 3 days. It's a cream stew with carrots, potatoes and red onions, it was super easy and quite quick! I often find my recipes on TikTok, and this was a Japanese Yooshoku dish. The term 'Yooshuku' or 'Yoshuku' refers to a:

Western-influenced Japanese dish

It is just such a comforting stew for the cold weather recently. This is the recipe I used. I'll try do a post on it next time I make it.

pesto pasta with blanched bok choy

I really like pesto pasta, and just had to make it, I made a creamy pesto sauce and added that sauce to my pasta separately, as I prefer adding the sauce to the pasta (I've seen people often like to add the pasta to the sauce). I also blanched some bok choy in sesame oil.

Some banana bread

So I was unhappy with how this banana bread came out, but it was still nice as a breakfast option, and lasted me around 4 days out of the fridge. But it was just too dense.

another pesto pasta but with breaded chicken

Another pesto pasta, it was probably the same pesto sauce as before, as it does last me a long time. But I decided to do some chicken as well, which I used panko crumbs for. I struggle with handling raw meat, so it took me a long time, still delicious in the end.

a flattering picture of the sauce

My camera in the above chicken and pesto pasta picture didn't really give the sauce a flattering angle/colour, so here's another picture!

A london fog

Not really food, but it was an interesting drink called a London fog! It's basically earl grey tea, with milk, vanilla and lavender.

mince mince

A bit of a boring picture, I didn't just eat the mince by itself but I forgot to take a picture of what I ate with it. It's minced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and I did add gochujang (but not enough for the amount of mince there. It was okay, nothing special.

fried spam with rice

Just a simple spam, peas, sweetcorn and rice. It had oyster sauce and soy sauce. I accidentally made it quite oily, but it was a nice change of pace!

roasted vegetables and soft boiled egg

Lastly, some roasted potatoes, carrots, with garlic, and soft boiled egg. I don't often do soft boiled egg, but it was really tasty and helped with using some last day vegetables :D

Hope you enjoyed!
