One of the healthiest and most nutritious meats a part from organic chicken, organic grass fed beef, sardines and lamb is deer meat.

It's one type of Game meat. Full of protein, contain good amount of zinc and Vitamin B12.

Personally I quite like it. Surprisingly quite lean and tasty.

Today I'm going to share this recipe.
Slow Cooked Deer Meat.
(Adapted from Jamie Oliver's Lamb Shank recipe.)

Ingredients:

Marinate
1 tbs extra virgin olive oil
1/2 tbs sea salt
1/2 tbs black pepper
1 tbs garlic powder
1 tbs Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tbs Italian mixed herbs

Stew
400-500 g Deer fitlet
2 medium onions
1 big carrot
5-10 small garlic cloves
2 tbs olive oil
1 tbs Worcestershire sauce
3 cups of chicken stock
1/4 cup of rasin
1 bay leave
1/2 tbs Italian mixed herbs
1 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp sea salt
Electric slow cooker or pressure cooker
(I used pressure cooker)

Instruction:
Cut the meat into cube shape. Marinate with olive oil, garlic powder, sea salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce for 15-20 mins or a little bit longer if you like.

On medium heat. Add olive oil in pressure cooker. Brown the meat for 5 mins. Then take the meat out set a side.

Add all vegetables in the same pan, cook them for 15 mins or until soft. Season with mixed herbs, sea salt, pepper and resins. Mix them well then stir in the meat.

Pour in Chicken stock, season with
Worcestershire sauce. Give it a good stir. Add bay leave.

Bring it to boil then close the lit. Cook on a low heat.

In the pressure cooker for 1 to 1.30 hr. For slow cooker about 2 to 2.30 hrs.

In my oven at 150 c. I cook it for 2 to 3 hrs. (Depends on your oven)

Serve with mashed potato or any side dish of your choice.

Tips:
To make your stew a bit thicker you can use Red wine, dark beer and add some fine choped tomatos and fruit jams.

I don't use any flour, I find it's too thick.

This recipe, once the stew has been reduced, the thickness will be just right.
