HEAVEN #10: Ushido Berlin with @mibenkito
I met with @mibenkito at Restaurant Ushido Berlin
After our collaboration posts LINK , LINK we have again visited a restaurant in Berlin together. This time we went to a Japanese Barbecue. It is called Yakiniku which means grilled meat in Japanese.
Yakiniku (焼き肉 or 焼肉), meaning "grilled meat", is a Japanese term which, in its broadest sense, refers to grilled meat dishes. "Yakiniku" originally referred to the "barbecue" of western food, which was given by Japanese writer Kanagaki Robun (仮名垣魯文) in his literature, "Seiyo Ryoritsu" (meaning "western food handbook"), in 1872 (The Meiji period).[1] Meat has been eaten in Japan since the Jōmon period. However, the rise of Buddhism made the eating of meat tabooed, and consequently some people have theorized that meat "disappeared" from the table from the Middle Ages to the Edo period.[2] The term "yakiniku" became associated with Korean-derived cuisine during the early Showa period.[3][4][5][6][7][8] Due to the Korean War, Korean restaurants in Japan were divided into North Korean (Kita Chōsen) and South Korean (Kankoku); "yakiniku restaurant" arose as a politically correct term to refer to restaurants of either type.[9] SOURCE
Since last year the export of Japanese Wagyu is allowed now. So Ushido has Wagyu available.

Premium Outside Skirt
Grill the meat for 15 seconds from each side
Grilled Scallop wonderful!!!
More meat on the grill ;)
Hotate (Scallop) it's Sashimi grade just a brief moment and they are ready to go
Chuck Flap
Premium Wagyu from Japan (45 Euro / 50 USD)
The best thing about Yakiniku, the Wagyu from Japan.
The difference between Japanese meat and foreign meat is so significant if you didn't try it you won't know what everybody is raving about. Japanese meat should be eaten almost raw. Grilled 7 seconds from each side and it is good to go. If you grill it longer it will loose it awesome taste.
The Ushido is a great restaurant but I have an opinion about it. The first problem is their water based grill. They don't use charcoal or a gas grill so the grill is not getting hot enough. The meat needs to long to get ready and it is hard to find the right moment or length. Result is overcooked meat which doesn't taste too good sometimes.
They use Australian and US Beef, that beef is semi-good at best, only the Wagyu is acceptable. The Wagyu is a bit expensive but if I go there again, I will only order the Wagyu and maybe eat less but better quality.
Anyway I promised @mibenkito that we will meet in Japan one-day so we can have a real Yakiniku-Fest there!!!
Do you like Yakiniku? What's your favorite?

looks excellent !
beware fake wagyu though, i dont think its real wagyu at this price ;)
could still be very good beef ;)
dont worry that was real wagyu. wagyu just means japanese beef... it was 100% wagyu. and 45 Euro for one plate is really expensive the same one in japan is 10 euro...
