Okonomiyaki

Okonomiyaki is one of my favorite Japanese Soulfoods. It is basically a pancake with different stuff inside. There is Seafood Okonomiyaki, with Beef, Pork, Chicken, Noodles etc. I visited a restaurant in Tokyo and the food was delicious.

We ordered 4 dishes, Okonomiyaki with Yakisoba noodles, Avocado Cheese, Fried Rice and Shitake Mushrooms. Usually you have to grill everything yourself, but in this restaurant 90% of the works is done by a chef on a big Teppanyaki. Every table had a small teppanyaki and the dishes were placed on the teppanyaki.

Everything was really great, but the best things were the Avocado Cheese (you had to eat it with a spoon) and the Shiitake Mushrooms. Many people don't like Shiitake, but if you eat fresh Shiitake you will fall in love. They are just so tasty compared to the one used sometimes in Chinese restaurants. Fresh is better (as Mentos always claimed in their commercial).
