Let's go eating *6: Ever tried the Persian cuisine? Me never ... until now!

in #food7 years ago

As I wrote last time in my preview this post is going to be a "Let's go eating" one 😋. And I really wanted to try out something new. Means not the general Italian, German, American .... food. Soooooo my boyfriend and I decided to celebrate my Bachelor (yes I finally have got my Bachelor degree!!!!🎉 🎉 🎉) at a Persian restaurant. And here we go: Let me present you "Nirvan", a beautiful small restaurant in the center of Stuttgart.

When we first entered there was a big staircase which lead down. The steps were designed with small red carpets. You suddenly felt like you've entered in the world of Aladdin 😄! Everywhere was this smell of different spices and I got even hungrier!

Below arrived we saw a bunch of tables with white tablecloths and some nice small paintings hanging on the white walls. It wasn't colorful at all. At least I expected to see more red but it was comfortable decorated with an variety of brown and white colors.

Luckily it wasn't crowded at all! So we could sit down at nearly any place we want. I especially liked this niche:

But unfortunately it was already taken 😌 So we sat next to them at a table for four. We didn't wait long until the waitress came and brought us two menu cards. They looks a bit broken and old but ok.
And here is what they provide:

Different sorts of vegetarian food. As I must say here, they cook a lot with aubergine!!!

I didn't look deep in the meat part, because as I often mentioned I try to be vegetarian if I am eating outside and vegan when I am cooking at home 😉
But if you want me to look closer to this part next time I can do so!
But back to the main thing. So here the Persian cuisine offers quite a lot from chicken to lamb over beef you have many possibilities! Except of pork of course.

The prices were reasonable, especially for Stuttgart, and you even can say it was quite cheap for the amount of food you get. Around 11 Euros per vegetarian meal and a bit more (~13 Euros) for meat.

So what did we choose?

Well, I really really love eggs so I went with the Mirzaghassemi. This contains grilled aubergines in egg, garlic and tomato-sauce. As for the carbohydrates you get some rice with everything. Luckily I really love rice 😍

My companion took the Gheyme Bademdschan. It also contains some aubergines, but fried once, yellow peas and a dried lime in a tomato-sauce with saffron rice and butter.

We didn't order any side dish or appetizer so we would definitely finish our meal without leaving left overs. But we didn't know that they would bring side dishes for free:

Some flatbread with fresh parsley, radish and onions with two pieces of butter and one piece of some creamy cheese. I didn't really know how to eat it so I put everything inside the flatbread and it tasted gooood:

So maybe you want to know something about the taste. My meal was absolutely amazing! The aubergines were really well cooked and the combination with the eggs made it even better. Without knowing what I got I never would have guess that there are aubergines in my meal!

The other dish was ok. It was for me not seasoned enough. And the lime ball or whatever it was (I really couldn't figure it out ^^) tasted awkward. Like really really sour but at the same time there was another taste I couldn't identify. I would say bitter but I am not sure. So anyone who knows what this is can you please explain it to me ^^?

And at the end we were even to full for a dessert!!! So we only drank our wine and left.

In total we paid for two people around 40 Euros.

RATING

This restaurant I would like to give a 6-7!

First of all, the meals were really tasty (especially mine!) and it was also a bit of an adventure to try out something new (like the lime ball). The waitress worked alone at that evening and she was really nice to us! Appreciate that!

But I had the feeling that this isn't the true Persian kitchen. I don't know why. It still tasted a bit to European!
In addition our tablecloth was quite dirty and you could see that they only turn around the white cloth. Well the price was quite cheap so I could look over it and this is also not so severe.
So from the price-performance ratio a 8-9 ;)

The only thing left is to wish all women out there a happy International Women's Day and stay healthy!!!!! And...
