After every contest comes time for selecting winners. This is the time we've been waiting for, especially the contestants. We are about to nominate, after which select the four winners of the Friday foodies contest # 4, which was held yesterday.

Four (4) contestants participated in the Friday foodies contest. These are their articulated entries

First Contestant, Entry 1

The first contestant was my 14-year old @farida. She prepared a very lovely meal- pounded yam and vegetable soup.

The Yoruba's from Western Nigeria popularly call the soup efo riro. All those who tasted @farida's food confirmed that it was really tasty. Alongside the food was fruit juice made from oranges, pineapple and coconut. These are tropical fruits which we have in abundance in Nigeria. Personally, I love coconuts and pinneaples. Anything prepared with coconuts would suffice. This little niece of mine, @farida, never ceases to amaze me. Without bias, she presented her food very well. Check out the procedure for food & beverage from here.

Second Contestant, Entry 2

The second contestant was @bekky. For the contest, she prepared Yam-Egg snack with zobo drink.

In a unique way, @bekky prepared the yam-egg snack. Instead of the very popular way of boiling the yam separately and then frying the eggs or boiling (because some prefer that method). The meal was made by first dipping the boiled yam in the whisked egg before frying.
To accompany her food, @bekky prepared zobo drink which I miss so much. The leaves of Hibiscus sabdariffa, popularly called zobo in Nigeria is a very heart-healthy drink. Those leaves contain a particular phytochemical- flavonoids. These are powerful antioxidants that help mop up free radicals that ravage our bodies. Recent research reveals that zobo drink can help reduce hypertension and cholesterol. So, my recommendation would be that all Nigerians drink zobo more often. Read more from @bekky's post how she prepared her meal.

Third Contestant, Entry 3

The third entry was from @fiscie. Indomie and hard-boiled eggs was presented for Friday foodies contest.

Fourth Contestant, Entry 4

Last entry, but not the least was from @lizbethk. This pretty young lady presented two short video clips , where she was making vegetable soup efo riro.

I am quite impressed with the innovative way of the use of videos for Friday foodies contest. Bravo, @lizbethk! You are a pacesetter in this regard. The only little challenge is that instead of @lizbethk placing her camera in a horizontal manner to record, she did her recording vertically. I believe that she is smart enough to fix that next time.

Okay, now is time for us to nominate and select winners. Let's begin the process.

@bekky nominated for 1st place by @dragonson & @cwen
@farida nominated for 1st place by @trendyevents & @eugenecr7
@lizbethk nominated for 1st place by @greenrun

Congratulations to @farida & @bekky!!! They'll both get $4 upvote, since their posts were very good and 2 Steemians nonimated both of them for 1st place. The 2nd place I'll give to @lizbethk. She'll receive $3 upvote. The 3rd place goes to @fiscie and she'll get $2 upvote. No 4th place winner, because of the nature of this particular contest. See you all for another amazing Friday foodies contest on Friday, 2nd of March, 2018.

Ps: This post will be edited after selection of winners to announce their 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place. Shortly after upvotes to the winners would be upgraded as clearly stated in the announcement post.

Please, take a look at @farida's first photo on her blog. I chose her second photo on my post, because this first one does not reveal the soup.

All three contestants did a ground breaking job.
Let's make sure the best win.
Keep on steemin' all steemians.

I appreciate your comment, @pouchon. The contestants are **four (4), though. If I were to select, I'll be biased and chose my little niece, @farida to go with the first prize , @bekky second prize. For that reason, I wouldn't want to be part of those nominating.

Lovely food, I wish I could taste them but I can't . Well looking at them, what makes a dish stand out.
Firstly, the item used, the items used are different from each other i.e the vegetable soup is different from the noodles and egg.
Secondly, timing how long was spent to produce theses dishes.
Thirdly, presentation I love the noodles and egg and the beef, she tried to make it look like a mouth but couldn't get it right that was cool. The yamarita and hibiscus drink real presented well but the plate and the cup looks like they are struggling for space on the tray.
Finally, the taste which we can do.
I wish I can see the fourth person dish. But for the three if I am to pick a winner, I would pick Yamarita and the hibiscus drink.

Thanks a lot, @dragonson, for first stating the criteria you used in selecting the winner and finally selecting

... I would pick Yamarita and the hibiscus drink.

The Steemian's name is @bekky. Welcome to steemit, @dragonson. Keep steeming!

Thanks alot for the nomination...welcome to steemit

I think I know the winner already :)
Yummy food.

Who is the winner, @greenrun? Please, nominate the 4 contestants for 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th place. Thank you.

Trying to be unbiased here, thank goodness others will vote too :)

No 1) lizabethk
No 2) farida
No 3) bekky
No 4) fiscie

They all did wonderful work. My nomination is solely based on my being asked to do that. I'm happy I'm not the one to do the overall pick of the winner :)
That will be a tough job.

I really appreciate your helping out in the nomination process, @greenrun.

I'm happy I'm not the one to do the overall pick of the winner :)
That will be a tough job.

The toughness of the job of selecting the final winner in a contest coupled with writing 2 posts (contest announcement & winners selection) are two main reasons why I don't run contests often. Once a month would be good for me, but the contestants keep telling me to run this contest weekly. So, I've decided to run it forthnightly. Hope I can be consistent with twice a month.

I do agree it takes time and energy to organise these things amidst other demands offline.

Please dear commenters, it would be beautiful to state whose dish you love the most. Something like I nominate @farida my little 14years old chef with entry 1 to be the winner of this contest. Check the procedure and you will see pictures of her dish and the procedure. Thank you very much!!

Okkk, let me number them

  1. @farida
  2. @lizabethk
  3. @bekky
    4.@ fiscie
    Thank you!

Good to see you here, madam @trendyevents. I appreciate your nomination of @farida.

Wow! How wonderful it to have these fantastic cuisines!! I really wish we could build a tent for each curator near where I reside so that I could always enjoy their amazing meals!!!Happy weekend to you innovative steemians!!! I wish all participants the best in this competition and great success in all their endeavours this year 2018 and beyond!!!

Hehee...@justiceoses , I can see that you really like the food presented by the Steemians. They are really innovative people. We would be glad, if you can nominate the winner for this contest. Thank you.

Let the best win! success to all participants

Thank you, @cwen, for wishing all participants success. It would be nice, if you nominate one person for the first prize.

I choose @bekky because of a beautiful food presentation. Picture wise.

Thank you, @cwen for nominating @bekky. Much appreciated.

I think i will go with @Farida since she prepared the most difficult food and the table presentation is just superb. Also she is just 14 years. Keep the good work @Farida

Thank you, @eugenecr7, for nominating @farida to be the 1st place winner of the Friday foodies contest. I am grateful.

I scrolled fast through these meals, I saw it and I was salivating. I wont have such great meal soon. So i will just say the best meal should win. I am a Yoruba person and we love one special meal in the list you mentioned. :)

Hehee...@turpsy, my friend, I know that you wouldn't joke with efo riro. That is why you highlighted

I am a Yoruba person and we love one special meal in the list you mentioned. :)

I miss all our local food a lot, maybe even more than you do. What to do? To make matters worse, there is no African shop, where one can buy our local groceries in this country. You'll have to travel to Vienna, Austria (Prosi Exotic Supermarket) for that.

Thanks for your continual support, brother. I really appreciate it.

You'll have to travel to Vienna,

Thesame thing with me. Its sad. :(

@lizbethk had a wonderful presentation. the way she expertly explained the whole process of cooking is noteworthy. The video too is helpful for anyone who cares to cook efo riro. In lieu of this, I hereby nominate @lizbethk for the first position.
