An apple a day!

we all have heard the saying an apple a day keeps the doctor away, but is it really true? Today we are gonna check the the health benefits of eating apples.

First lets take a look of the nutritional values, a regular 100g of apple contains:

-52 calories
-86% water content
-0.3g protein
-Calories 52
-Carbs 13.8 g
-Sugar 10.4 g
-Fiber 2.4 g
Fat 0.2 g
-Saturated 0.03 g
-Monounsaturated 0.01 g
-Polyunsaturated 0.05 g
-Omega-3 0.01 g
-Omega-6 0.04 g
-Trans fat 0

So if we study the content we can see that an apple is basically a very healthy source of water, good sugar (fructose), vitamins and fiber that our body needs to function properly.

An australian study actually revealed that people eating an apple a day, more than 100g a day (the size of a small apple) were more likely to have a longer lfe expectancy than those who had less than 5g a day, and not only that but I can also think of a better quality of life.

As a final thought is also important to pay attention to the way the apple was grown, there were a lot of pesticides and other chemicals used when growing it or was it in a more organic natural way? that also plays a role on the health benefits the apple is going to deliver to us.
