#Passion fruit, AKA Granadilla..

I had so much fun taking this photos of our own granadilla vine two summers ago..

These flowers always have me mesmerized by their beauty!

As for the pretty purple fruits it carries, well they are simply divine :-)

Tiny black seeds encased in the most delicious orangy jelly like coatings.. sweet with the slightest hint of tang as it swirls inside your mouth.

This vine grows so fast that we had to constantly cut and trim it back from the roof where it hungover, offering a cool shade cover over our kitchen windows.. the view was simply amazing! such pretty flowers and the prettiest bounty of fruits hanging from its vines in our alley way outside our kitchen window..

Fun facts about this plant and its bounty of fruit it has to offer to us so generously..

  1. It provides plenty of nectar for local bees.. (this is wonderful where we live as nectar is such a problem for the little insects as our city increases exponentially in size..)

  2. It's fruits are filled with health benefits just to name a few... High in Vitamins C & A as well as, niacin, iron, protein, magnesium, phosphorus, copper, fibres, riboflavin as well as anti-oxidants..

  3. Passionflower, (Passiflora incarnata) is extremely beneficial as a natural sedative for people suffering anxiety, stress and so forth.. in many places around the globe you can buy passiflora caps now too which is wonderfully easy for the 'lazy pill poppers' ;-) upside to passiflora is that you do not have all the risks and side effects that you would experience with a herb such as St john's wort for example.

  1. Let's just be honest with ourselves right now guys.. it is simply delicious in so many ways!!

Tarts, Fresh eaten from the shell with a T-spoon, inside of cocktails and many many more..

Considering how little space in the ground this vine truly needs to be able to generate such a bounty crop for many months in the year, I still often wonder why it isn't more popular between people living in cluster housing etc.. it is one of the easiest plants that I have ever kept in my life with a huge reward!

Hope you enjoyed my post and like the pretty photos ..

Lots of love,
@mysticlilly16

Passion fruit looks out of this planet, especially the colours of the flower!
