MOLASSES CRINKLE COOKIES | Easy Beginner-Friendly Holiday Cookie Recipe

in #food7 years ago (edited)

Happy Holidays Steemians,

During the holiday season, one holiday dessert favorite that comes to mind are gingerbread men or cookies. However, I tend to favor chewy cookies instead. So, when I came across a recipe for a chewy gingerbread inspired cookie, I knew I had to adapt it! This Molasses Crinkle cookie recipe literally tastes like a gingerbread man and a sugar cookie lady had a beautiful cookie baby lol!

This recipe was adapted from https://steemit.com/@offbeatbroad

MOLASSES CRINKLE COOKIES
1 Cup Sugar
3/4 Cup Unsalted Butter, Softened
1 Tbsp Molasses for light flavor or 1/4 Cup for full flavor
1 Egg
2 1/4 Cup All Purpose Flour
2 Tsp Baking Soda
1 Tsp cinnamon
1/2 Tsp Salt
1 Tsp Ground Ginger
Sugar for coating

Preheat oven to 375F.

In a mixing bowl, beat together the sugar, butter, and molasses. Then, beat in the egg. Add the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, and ginger. Stir together the ingredients.

Combine the dough. You can keep using your whisk or a fork. I like to use both hands :) Cover with plastic wrap and cool in the refrigerator for 1 hour.

Once chilled, roll tbsp of dough into balls. Roll each dough ball in sugar to coat.

Place on a cookie sheet, 2 inches apart and bake for 10-12 minutes. Rest on the baking pan for 1-2 minutes and transfer them to a wire rack to cool.
