Super Low Carb Hamburgers - You've Got To Try This!

in #food8 years ago (edited)

I found this recipe for a carb-free hamburger bun here

The bun consists of:

  • 1 Egg
  • 2 Tbsp Butter
  • 4 Tbsp Flax Meal (mine has chia also)
  • 1/4 tsp Baking Powder
  • Salt to taste

You just throw all the ingredients together and mix in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for about 1 minute (until the middle is set). Once it is done, cut it in half, just like a bun. Next, stack your burger ingredients, I just like cheese, bacon and mayo!

It's not Hawaiian bread or anything, but it gets the job done.

I was impressed with how well it held up to the weight of the burger. If you aren't big on the taste, try adding more butter or salt. Butter and salt help everything!

This looks awesome! Are you on a low car diet of some sort?

More like a lifestyle. I don't like to consider it a diet because that implies that it is temporary. Carbs like bread, sugar, etc are bad for you, they turn into fat and cause inflammation. I have found the only way I am able to maintain a healthy body weight is buy lowering my carb intake. Thanks for commenting!

Cool I recently started ketoish and am enjoying it so far!

Yep, keto is awesome. I have been doing it for years, and I love it. I will take breaks every now and then, but mostly, no carbs for me!

Nice! We need to get the Keto word out on steemit! Have you watched any of the talks from David Diamond on Youtube? I'm probably preaching to the choir but they're really good! I used a talk to introduce the idea of keto to my family.

Haven't heard of David Diamond. I learned about keto from the bodybuilding.com forums and r/Keto on reddit.

Check this out when you have some free time!

I prefer my burgers nekkid...

You just want the meat

Yeah! Give it a shot. I'll post a low carb pizza crust soon!

What's the texture like? And yeah... butter and salt work wonders.

It's really much the same as bread, a little more grainey, may be the chia seeds that were in mine

Keep those recipes coming, trying to eat low-carb :)

Sure thing! Follow me and I'll try to post some more. One of my favorites is bacon wrapped chicken thighs!
