Hello steemit friends...

My today post is about the amzaing and impressive health benefits of carrots. I hope you all will find this post in the high spirit of life and good health.

The health benefits of carrots include cholesterol lowering, lower risk of heart attack, prevention of certain cancers, improved vision and reduced signs of premature aging. In addition, carrots have the ability to improve skin, strengthen the immune system, improve digestion, protect cardiovascular health, detoxify the body and increase oral health in various ways. They also offer a complete supply of vitamins and minerals.

What are carrots?

Carrots are one of the most used and appreciated vegetables in the world, partly because they grow quite easily and are very versatile in a series of dishes and cultural cuisines. They are scientifically classified as Daucus carota and classified as root vegetables. Carrots are available in different colors such as orange, purple, white, yellow and red. Carrot taproot is the part of the most commonly consumed vegetable, although greens are still useful in salads and other forms.

The type of carrot most commonly consumed in the world is the domestic variety of the wild species mentioned above and is native to Europe and Southwest Asia. Most of the carrots are grown in China, but are exported all over the world to be included in salads and soups, as well as a stand-alone vegetable for snacks, side dishes and essential ingredients in many recipes.

The carrots in the wild have a central woody element that is not very pleasant, so the cultivation has finally selected that feature and we have remained the shape of carrots with which we are familiar today. Both adults and children like them because of their crunchy texture and their sweet taste, so this is one of the valuable vegetables for parents, as children seem to enjoy eating them, which is a rare exception!

The health benefits of carrots and their delicious taste make them an important vegetable in cultural cuisines all over the world, so first we understand what exactly it is about carrots that makes them so beneficial!

Nutritional facts of carrots

Most of the benefits of carrots can be attributed to their beta-carotene and fiber content. These root vegetables are also a good source of antioxidants. In addition, they are rich in Vitamin A, C, K and B8, as well as pantothenic acid, folic acid, potassium, iron, copper and manganese.

Prevent heart disease

In a study to reveal the therapeutic value of carrots, researchers at the Wolfson Gastrointestinal Laboratory in Edinburgh, Scotland, revealed that cholesterol drops by about 11 percent if seven ounces of raw carrots are consumed per day for three weeks.

High cholesterol is an important factor that causes heart disease. Since regular consumption of carrots reduces cholesterol levels, it is a good idea to consume a good dose of carrots in order to prevent heart problems. A group of Swedish scientists has discovered that these root vegetables can reduce the chances of having a heart attack. A study conducted at the Institute for Pharmacological Research Mario Negri in Italy found that those who ate more carrots had a 1/3 risk of heart attack compared to those who ate less carrots.

Low blood pressure

They are rich sources of potassium, which is a vasodilator and can relax tension in blood vessels and arteries, thus increasing blood flow and circulation, increasing the function of organs throughout the body and reducing stress on the cardiovascular system. Arterial hypertension is directly related to atherosclerosis, strokes and heart attacks, so this is another healthy aspect of carrots' hearts! The coumarin found in them has also been linked to the reduction of hypertension and to the protection of heart health!

Increase immunity

Carrots contain a range of antiseptic and antibacterial capabilities that make them ideal for boosting the immune system. Not only that, they are a rich source of vitamin C, which stimulates the activity of white blood cells and is one of the most important elements in the human immune system.

Help in digestion

Carrots, like most vegetables, have a significant amount of dietary fiber in their roots and fiber is one of the most important elements for maintaining good digestive health. The fiber adds volume to the feces, which helps to easily pass through the digestive tract and stimulates peristaltic movement and the secretion of gastric juices. Overall, this reduces the severity of conditions such as constipation and protects the colon and stomach from various serious diseases, including colorectal cancer. The fiber also increases heart health by helping to eliminate excess LDL cholesterol from the walls of the arteries and blood vessels.

Prevent cancer

Consumption of beta-carotene has been associated with a reduced risk of several cancers, particularly lung cancer. British researchers have found that the increase in beta-carotene consumption from 1, 7 to 2, 7 milligrams a day reduces the risk of lung cancer by more than 40%. A medium carrot contains about three milligrams of beta-carotene.

In a separate study, researchers found that eating fiber-rich carrots reduced the risk of colon cancer by as much as 24%. Another study shows that women who ate raw carrots were five to eight times less likely to develop breast cancer than those who did not.

Reduce macular degeneration

This is a disease of the common eye of the elderly that alters the function of the macula. The research found that people who ate the most beta-carotene had a lower risk of forty percent of macular degeneration than those who consumed less. Beta-carotene can also be divided by an enzymatic reaction to form pro-vitamin A, which is often associated with the antioxidant capacity in relation to sight. Therefore, carrots are a complete visual reminder.

Improve sight

Vitamin A deficiency can cause some difficulty in seeing dim light. Because carrots are rich in vitamin A, they are useful for improving eyesight and preventing conditions like night blindness from developing with age.

Improve oral health

Organic compounds in carrots are good mineral antioxidants and also stimulate gums and induce excess saliva. Saliva is an alkaline substance and fights bacteria and foreign bodies that can often cause cavities, halitosis and other risks to oral health.

Reduce the risk of stroke

Eating one carrot every day reduces the risk of stroke by 68%. Many studies have reinforced the belief of the "carrot effect" on the brain. Studies with stroke patients revealed that those with the highest beta-carotene levels had the highest survival rate.

Diabetes control

Carrots are good for blood glucose regulation due to the presence of carotenoids in them. Carotenoids inversely affect insulin resistance and therefore lower blood sugar, thus helping diabetics live a normal and healthy life. They also regulate the amount of insulin and glucose that is used and metabolized by the body, providing a healthy fluctuation in diabetics.

They have antiseptic qualities and can therefore be used as laxatives, vermicides and as a remedy for liver conditions. Carrot oil is good for dry skin because it makes the skin softer, smoother and firmer. In addition, carrot juice improves stomach and gastrointestinal health.

So carrots, eaten like raw fruit, juice or cooked, are always a good choice for your health!
