FOOD & FASTING - the evolution of eating & progressive loss of knowledge

Food is the fuel for our bodies yet the pleasure of eating has become more important than the quality of the fuel.

Fasting is the healing process for our bodies yet today we try to heal ourselves with drugs which only address the symptoms.

🍇🍏🍌🍅🍍🍒

What does history tell us?

Raymond Dart was credited in 1924 as discovering the first fossil of a proposed human ancestor in Africa.

After collecting more and more data on these ‘early humans’ he went on to describe them as carnivorous creatures and popularised the image of early man hunting animals to survive.

It is thought by many scientists that eating meat at this stage of our evolution was important for the development of our brains.

However...

Anthropologists who are brave enough to challenge the status quo have been reaching different conclusions. Using electron microscopes and other sophisticated tools of the time, Dr. Alan Walker and his colleagues confirmed all the way back in 1979 that early humans appeared more like fruitarians than omnivores.

Preliminary studies of fossil teeth have led to the startling suggestion that our early human ancestors (Australopithecus) were not predominantly meat-eaters or even eaters of seeds, shoots, leaves or grasses, nor were they omnivorous. Instead they appear to have subsisted chiefly on a diet of fruit. Every tooth examined from the hominids of the 12 million year period leading up to Homo Erectus appeared to be that of a fruit-eater.

DR ALAN WALKER - Anthropologist at John Hopkins University - NY Times, May 1979 info source

The missing link

In order to draw any solid conclusions about what we should be eating based on these fossils we must first prove we are descended from them.

Despite evolution being taught as fact in school, there is actually no proven connection between us and them. Without any other ideas (which don’t challenge the Theory of Evolution) this is just our current best guess.

I will be taking a look at some of the ideas which do challenge evolution in the final part of this series, ‘How long have we really been here?’

No meat for the heroes

Did you know that Spartans, the most formidable warriors in our history books, famous for their incredible strength & endurance were forbidden to eat meat? info source

And a study by the Medical University of Vienna and the University of Bern found after examining the bones of Roman Gladiators in a cemetery that they were 'mostly vegetarian'. info source

Yet all references to this diet which seems to fit rather well for humans seeking strength were omitted from the recent Hollywood depictions of these people.

And in this modern world it is often assumed that eating high quantities of meat will naturally lead to heightened strength.

The mystery of indigenous cultures

There are many different diets amongst the remaining indigenous populations and their diet always seems to fit their environment.

These diets range from 100% vegetarian (in India) to a mostly meat & fish diet (in Greenland) and both populations appeared to be living healthy lives prior to the modern world discovering them. The Inuit & Aboriginal people have shown us clearly that when immersed into western culture, their health quickly deteriorates. info source

474A1271_2_3_tonemapped.jpg

Pre-agriculture?

Prior to the development of agriculture around 10,000 years ago, all humans were hunters & gathers who adapted over a long period of time to their environment.

Prior to the development of settlements we were travellers and would eat whatever we came across. We would eat until the food source was gone and then we would keep on walking until we found more food, which may not have been for long periods of time.

So, there is something to be said for eating (or not eating) as our ancestors did.

But who were our ancestors?

Personally, I am pretty mixed up in this department. My English mother has Irish roots and my American father had Polish roots… and if I were to trace it back further no doubt it would get even more confusing.

A long time ago I was the cameraman on a DNA experiment design to curb racism in white kids.

I filmed them getting their results, discovering in horror how English they really were.

Most of them only around 3%.

And like all of us the percentage of African in them was high, for this is where us humans are thought to have originated before we started walking our great walk across the earth.

Based on the long list of countries these kids were looking at, one could safely say it would be impossible to create a diet from this data.

Where does this leave us in our quest for answers?

We have learned that we are capable of adapting over long periods of time to fit our environment. So the real question is not what we should be eating, but how we can eat in a way which does minimal damage to our environment.

The tipping point

The world's population is growing fast and the choices we make now over what we grow as food will have long lasting effects on the Earth.

a diet that revolves around meat and dairy, a way of eating that’s on the rise throughout the developing world, will take a greater toll on the world’s resources than one that revolves around unrefined grains, nuts, fruits, and vegetables.

ANN GIBBONS info source

We are at a pivotal point in human history

because now we know the facts and now we have a choice!

And the choice each individual makes plays a vital part in the future of this playground we love so much.

What does our body tell us?

The human anatomy

monkeys-19.jpg

No matter if you are a subscriber to Darwin’s proposed Theory of Evolution or not, there can be no question that our anatomy is most similar to that of the primates. Yet we do not eat like them.

Unlike the primates who act instinctively when it comes to food, we are influenced by so many external factors: culture, tradition, religion, advertising & television... to name but a few.

Using fossils to deduce diet

When examining the fossils of extinct mammals the anatomical features are used to deduce diet. So if we were aliens digging up the bones of a modern human for the first time, what would we deduce?

With no hidden agenda or preconceptions we would surely conclude that humans were neither carnivores, omnivores or herbivores for a close examination of our anatomy reveals that we are in fact more similar to the frugivores than anything else.

PH levels

There can be no argument about the effects of PH in the body.

alkaline-diet-phchart.jpg

Simply put, if you maintain an acidic body it will deteriorate and if you maintain an alkaline body it will thrive.

It is worth noting here that if you enjoy acidic food & drink, you can work toward correcting the balance by eating something which is very alkaline. For example, if I have been drinking a lot of alcohol on a particular night (which is rare these days!) I will always start the following day with a large amount of watermelon and lime. My hangover disappears instantly and I feel energised again because my body is no longer acidic.

Instinct

There is much to be said for trusting our instinct. So much so that I will be dedicating one part of this series to it, part 5 Consciousness & Instinct.

Here is a simple test for you. Use your instinct to answer this question honestly.

How do you feel when you look at this?

How do you feel when you look at this?

I can only speak for myself, but it feels when looking at the images like one is food and the other is not. Perhaps some of you feel different?

Our instinct does not come into play any more because meat is presented to us from an early age as a plastic wrapped product or pretty little chunks which more resemble the fruit than the animal(s) it came from and by the time we understand concepts like pain, suffering and death we have already been conditioned to see eating meat as a normal necessity.

"You put a baby in a crib with an apple and a rabbit. If it eats the rabbit and plays with the apple, I'll buy you a new car."

--- Harvey Diamond

We are not natural predators and our children remind us of this with their instinctive food choices. Again, I can only speak from experience here but my two children both under the age of 3 prefer fruit above anything else and I feel certain that at no point will they suddenly develop the desire to rip flesh from a bone. Unless of course I start the process of diverting them from their instincts by introducing ever increasing quantities of meat (disguised as something else) into their diet.

The cooking paradigm in the age of decadence

Did you know that Sir John Bagot Glubb (1897-1987) identified seven stages in the rise and fall of all empires? info source

  1. The age of outburst (or pioneers).
  2. The age of conquests.
  3. The age of commerce.
  4. The age of affluence.
  5. The age of intellect.
  6. The age of decadence.
  7. The age of decline and collapse.

We are currently in the age of decadence and fast approaching the age of decline and collapse.

I mention this because another factor commonly identified with the age of decadence is the idolisation of our chefs. Today we place chefs on a pedestal by giving them TV shows whilst trying to replicate their taste sensations in our own kitchens.

We have become obsessed with cooking because we have become obsessed with taste and flavour. A meal is judged upon visual presentation and the instant gratification it provides, not the sensation in our body which comes after the eating process.

Many of us believe our sluggish feeling after eating heavy meals to be normal and we usually fix this feeling with a coffee or a rest. But I can assure you, this feeling is not normal. Our bodies are capable of so much more than most of us will ever understand.

Go RAW

Raw vegans will not heat their food beyond that of the human body, at which point the enzymes are killed. Which to me makes a lot of sense. Eating high quantities of fruit & veg which is organic, fresh and raw will unquestionably increase your life expectancy.

A major study in 2016 of more than 130,000 people over the course of 30 years found that vegans have substantially lower death rates than meat-eaters.

Every 3% increase in calories from plant protein was found to reduce risk of death by 10%. The figure rises to 12% for risk of dying from heart disease. By contrast, raising the share of animal protein in one's diet by 10% led to a 2% higher risk of death from all causes. This increased to an 8% higher chance of dying from heart disease. Substituting eggs for plant protein led to a 19% reduction in death risk and eliminating unprocessed red meat saw a drop of 12%.

SIOBHAM FENTON info source

Despite the knee jerk reaction against a lifetime of conditioning experienced by most meat eaters when presented with the idea of eating only raw food, it can with a little focus & creativity be a delightful visual and taste experience.

Doesn't this raw hemp garlic pesto lasagna look great?

You know you wanna taste it 😋

Mono meals

Eating only one type of food as a meal is known as a monotrophic meal.

Going back to the Theory of Evolution and primitive man, it could logically be assumed that the food sources we stumbled upon during our great walk across the earth were not always a mixture of foods. On the contrary, we would have found an abundance of particular types of food in particular areas. And in our primitive ways we would have gorged on whatever was within reach. Like a jungle full of banana plants for example. Once all the tasty sweet yellow delights were gone we would move on until the next edible treat presented itself to us.

The combination of certain fruits & vegetables in our body is known to increase our acidity and use up an unnecessary amount of energy in the digestion process. Consequently, it is thought now that including one mono meal per day (preferably breakfast) will greatly benefit your body. In this way the digestion process is simplified and our energy is increased.

IMG_8315.jpg

Personally I choose to eat half a watermelon (with a little squeeze of lime or lemon for extra alkalinity) or a large bunch of bananas for my breakfast.

And I aways feel light and energised after this meal, ready for the day ahead.

As opposed to the feeling I would experience if I ate my old meal of choice at this time of the day, a classic english breakfast accompanied by a large cup of coffee to combat the feeling of tiredness which came with it.

"The natural healing force within each one of us is the greatest force in getting well. Our food should be our medicine. Our medicine should be our food. But to eat when you are sick, is to feed your sickness."

                                --- Hippocrates

“Instead of using medicine, rather, fast a day.”

                                --- Plutarch

“The best of all medicines are rest and fasting”

                                --- Benjamin Franklin

Having read the above quotes, I find myself wondering how it is that we have forgotten this today?

Did you know that virtually all animals employ fasting in times of sickness or injury?

That is because it is nature’s way of allowing the organism the best possible conditions in which to cleanse and heal itself.

Look to the ancients...

All the ancients wrote and spoke about fasting as a spiritual practice to cleanse the body, mind, and soul. Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, and indigenous peoples from North and South America, among many others, use fasting as a ritual in their spiritual practices.

GIOVANNI BARTOLOMEO source

The benefits and systems behind fasting are numerous & varied but ultimately it is a process of detoxification. Most westerners have been clogging up their intestines for years with foods & toxins which don't belong there, so fasting is essential if you are looking to reset the natural balance of your body.

During the fast there are various natural products which can be taken to speed up the detox process, removing raw toxins whilst keeping the bowels moving. And if you want optimum effects it is recommended that enemas and colonics also be used as part of the system.

Most of us will have parasites of some sort living in our intestines and they are literally sucking on our energy. Energy which would be freed up for us, if we could just get rid of them.

Reclaim your body!

It is only fasting which can help us reclaim our bodies from these parasites. If we fast for long enough we will find things coming out of us which look like something from a horror movie. I will spare you the images, but in most cases they are long brown tape worms.

IMG_6791.jpg

There have been many famous people throughout history who have enjoyed the benefits of fasting.

Did you know that after Gandhi was assassinated at the age of 77, doctors commented that his organs looked like those of a 35 year old? Their only explanation for this was the extensive fasting he had done in his life.

Rumi, the great 11th century poet and mystic spoke at length of the virtues of fasting.

Pythagoras clearly understood the impact a clean body has on the mind and insisted all his students fast for a minimum of six weeks before he would tutor them.

Can you imagine doing that today in preparation for an intense period of education? I think not.

A peer-reviewed study published in a medical journal proved that fasting is three times as effective as hypertension medications at reducing high blood pressure. It’s helpful to understand that virtually all symptoms that we experience are evidence that the body is attempting to heal itself. It is always the body that heals itself. Remedies of all kinds generally treat symptoms, not causes, and it is only by eliminating the cause of a problem that we can expect to solve the problem.

LOREN LOCKMAN info source

So, doctors address the symptoms while fasting addresses the cause. Which one would you prefer to address?

I can tell you from experience that when I am experiencing pain or discomfort for whatever reason, if I am able to climb into my (earthed) bed and stop eating for a day, my body will always heal itself quickly.

I will be looking at earthing in part 4 of the Truth Seeking series.

Dry fasting

This is a complete abstinence not only from food, but also from liquids.

It is believed by most that a person cannot live more than 3 or 4 days without water but this is simply not true. I remember specifically being taught this 'fact' in school. God bless our modern eduction!

The truth of the matter is that even a short spell of dry fasting as a method of body cleansing has been proven to be much more effective than all the others, including traditional fasting.

Intermittent fasting

The cleaning of the body begins after 8 hours of no food.

So if someone finishes their dinner at 10pm & eats breakfast at 10am their body receives 4 hours of detox.

Using this technique on a regular basis is known as intermittent fasting and is a much easier way to begin your exploration into the world fasting, but still very effective. I personally don't eat between 8pm & 8am. Easily achievable. And sometimes when my instinct tells me I will stop eating for 1 or 2 days. After which I always feel GREAT!

When I asked old friend and vegan/fasting/body health expert @sebcam if he had anything he wanted to add to this article, his response was this:

Don't encourage strict calorie restriction, as people will yo-yo and bounce back to icecream and pizza. Instead encourage "eat all you want" (80% clean carbs) during the eating phase. FEASTING.... and FASTING; like in Nature. And be intuitive, if it's 11am and you feel mega hungry, and woozy, and water/tea ain't cutting it, don't be so hard on ya self to "not eat till midday", just go ahead and eat. A HUGE HIGH CARB meal at night makes the next day easier. The energy we have today is from what we ate yesterday. Like a Marathon Runner for example ;)

Thanks for this @sebcam.

From eating to not eating

I discovered four years ago there are people who no longer eat, despite the popular belief that we die when we stop eating.

Hira Ratan Manek (HRM) for example is said to have not eaten solid food for 22 years. info source

He has learned how to acquire his energy directly from the sun. I will be examining sun-gazing in part 5 of this series 'Sungazing & activating the 3rd eye'.

He is not alone. This is Prahlad Jani.

Jani is said to have not eaten or drunk anything for 70 years! info source
And guess what? He is in perfect health.

Others have learned to draw their energy (also known as Prana) though focused breathing practices. These people are known as Breatharians.

So there is an evident evolution of the body & mind available to those who choose to walk this path. A path which is clearly displayed below.

food-path-pic-2.png
info source

Screen Shot 2017-11-16 at 14.36.11.png

I discovered most of this information around 5 years ago and have been a vegan since then. My body has changed a great deal in this time and I no longer get sick. I have more energy than I used to and for the first time in my life I am proud of the way my body looks, despite doing no exercise at all. Other than spinning my fire-staff in the mornings after sun-gazing.

And this is what I look like today.

family.jpg

My main suggestion to anyone wishing to regain control of their body and look & feel the way nature intended is to add things to your diet initially rather than taking them away. Start eating high water content fruit in the mornings. This will immediately kickstart the body and your instinct will begin speaking to you after this.

And try to avoid processed foods once you have found enjoyable (and natural!) alternatives.

The big problem [with processed foods] is not just the health impact. It's how it affects your consciousness. You cant keep your energy up and stay alert spiritually if you are drugged.

The remainder of the Truth Seeking series

  • SUNGAZING - Done regularly in the correct way it can increase the size of your pineal gland - YOUR THIRD EYE. And let's not forget that the Mayans, Aztecs, Egyptians, Tibetans & even some Indians use/used sungazing to gain something so indescribably beneficial.

  • EARTHING - the advantages of taking your socks & shoes off. What happens when your skin touches the oldest & wisest mother of them all? And why is this especially relevant in our modern world?

  • THE MEDICAL INDUSTRY - one of the most despicable lies going on today and a tough pill to swallow for many! And the solution is so much simpler than you might imagine.

  • EYESIGHT/VISION - how to cure your defective eyesight without going to an optician. Those of you who wear glasses will be invited to join me on a 60 course to correct your vision. I will be running my course as a Steemit exclusive.

  • CONSCIOUSNESS & INSTINCT - where does it originate and why are we here? We are capable of so much more than we currently understand! Our reliance on 'the system' has left us blind to our own abilities.

  • THE ILLUSION OF TIME - an examination of what this word time really means. Looking specifically at experiments which defy our understanding of time and relate back to the previous article on instinct.

  • DEATH - seriously over-hyped & nothing to worry about! Focussing specifically on the Pineal Gland, NDEs (near death experiences), channelling and my experiences with a Ouija board.

  • HUMANS & OUR PLAYGROUND - how much do we really know about our history here? Using numerous examples I will show you that we have been here much longer than history would have us believe. What does this mean for us today?

Great work! Upvoted and Resteemed! Here's a clip from the documentary 'in the beginning there was light', featuring Prahlad Jani and several other breatharians :)

Sanal Edamaruku characterized the experiment as a farce for allowing Jani to move out of the CCTV cameras' field of view, claiming that video footage showed Jani was allowed to receive devotees and to leave the sealed test room for sunbathing. Edamaruku also said that the gargling and bathing activities were insufficiently monitored. Edamaruku was denied access to the site where the tests were conducted in both 2003 and 2010,[3] and accuses Jani of having "influential protectors" responsible for denying him permission to inspect the project during its operation, despite having been invited to join the test during a live television broadcast.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prahlad_Jani

These two docs highlight the lives of numerous people, many of whom are said to have stopped eating. Difficult to know if it is true, but I can say from experience that the more I sungaze, the less food I desire. I don't practice any breatharian techniques though. Not consciously anyway.

If you watch the full documentary, you will see that there are other cases from other hospitals, in europe - where this was repeated - totally unconnected to the prahlad jani case (as far as is visible). one of the alleged breatharians is himself a medical doctor.

in the case of prahlad jani, the page on wikipedia also states:

In September 2010, Dr Shah announced that scientists from Austria and Germany had offered to visit India to carry out further research on Jani, and scientists from the United States had also offered to join the research. Jani has expressed interest in cooperating in further investigations.

The investigations in India involved 10-40 people monitoring him as far as i am aware. No evidence is presented by the 'rationalist' who claimed it was a farce and I have not had access to the full video footage to confirm or reject the claims. Since I was not present for any of the investigations, I can only go by what I have had access to and from a neutral standpoint I have to say that it 'looks' genuine - but I can accept that for some unknown reason it could be a deception. Who exactly stands to gain from such a deception is unanswered though... 'Powerful' people in multiple continents releasing a documentary that few have seen for a purpose that stands to make them no money and that will attract ridicule? don't sound very 'rational' ;)

An amazing documentary this one. Though I've never been able to find the full version in english. I have a German version with rubbish subtitles!

This is a great one too, called Eat the Sun:

Yes, I have the german one with subtitles too ;)
I think I skipped watching Eat the Sun - looks good too.

Great! I will watch this with pleasure! UPvoted mate! =)

Hey bro. Have you not seen these? They are both super interesting! I might even say they changed my life :)

Everyone thinks they'll be breatharian by next week, first, let's learn to eat enough fresh fruits, roots & greens, as HIGH-Carb Warriors.... without any addictions.

For sure. It does sound rather appealing though. To have the choice of eating or not eating! Thanks for sending over your old info on this subject. I really enjoyed writing this article... and learned a few new things too :)

"Don't do it coz it sounds cool" is the advice from Genesis Sunfire..... and where is he now, anyway? All the breatharians disappear; talk shit for a year or so, then you never hear from 'em again. There's a clue. Meanwhile; HIGH-Carb people are there 10, 20 YEARS running circles around everyone. There's another clue ;)

Inspiring and rather in depth , well written article with some great pics!!!! good one!

Thank you copa. Your support has been massively appreciated.

Great post keep it up Sam

Thank you Manny ;)

very nice article and very informative. Certainly a lot of people can learn, and think about what you have written. You have planted the seed, and more than that you cannot do. I agree we need to listen to our bodies very carefully otherwise we get ill, and people dont seem to realise how important it is to the body from being acidic. When I see "cancer patients" drinking alcohol, eating pasta, bread, cakes, sweets etc. I cringe. However they wont listen to what we have to say they would rather listen to their doctors and undergo chemo. So be it, each to their own. But I support your article 100%. As always great info!

Thanks for the support! I know the cancer story very well. My partner's mother fits this story exactly. And it is difficult watching her slowly decline, when the answer is so close to her.

All we can do is speak our truth. And people listen or not. It will always be up to them :)

Sam, you shoud suggest your partner to use "The Gerson Therapy" to heal her mother. I can assure you that it can heal 4th stage cancer too!

@invinciblelight, The Gerson Therapy is excellent but if they are not willing to peek outside the box of conventional medicine then I think they wont go for this either. Any cancer was just an example it applies to virtually any dis-ease.

It's very sad. :(

Trust me, we have tried everything. They are simply not willing to listen to my words. And would much rather continue drinking coca-cola and eating steaks & ice-cream. On the advice of their doctor. The same doctor who told her that to include high nutrient plant & fruit smoothies in her diet was a bad idea because it might conflict with her chemotherapy.

I cannot compete with a man in a white coat with a medial education. A man she has trusted all her life.

Yup, Gerson Therapy is useless to someone who isn't listening.

Absolutely admirable! I am SO not there... but I absolutely take my hat off to you @samstonehill (silently bookmarks all info) hehe ;)

Many of us believe our sluggish feeling after eating heavy meals to be normal and we usually fix this feeling with a coffee or a rest. But I can assure you, this feeling is not normal. Our bodies are capable of so much more than most of us will ever understand.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO True!!!!!

Despite the knee jerk reaction against a lifetime of conditioning experienced by most meat eaters when presented with the idea of eating only raw food, it can with a little focus & creativity be a delightful visual and taste experience.

There is ALWAYS resistance to change - but when the resistance is mastered.... amazing things happen. I can speak for this in many "other" facets of life.

As always... AWESOME post!
Love it when your blog crosses my feed!

Thank for your super enthusiastic comment & support. It's great to know you are watching when I post in your feed. I will try to post my links there more often :)

I probably should have mentioned that I am not a strict vegan. Not being big on rules in my life, if I feel like eating meat I will eat it, though this doesn't happen too frequently these days.

There's no benefit in stating "where-you-are-not".... let's talk more of where you wanna be. Who you wanna be, and why. ;)

This was an incredible read for me. I have heard many times about fasting and becoming a raw vegan, ect. But there is always so much information that it's too much to take in or even know which is the correct way to live. Should one fast each week AND be fruititarian? Or do intermitting fasting and periodic full day fastings? Or only fruititarian? I'm so confused....not that it should be surprising. LOL Thanks for a great read anyways!!

Confusion is no excuse. Accept the confusion & misinformations are there to confuse, on purpose. Health is wealth, and this information is withheld to keep the population sick, and tired. It's not complicated. Do you know how to peel a banana? Could you peel 10 bananas? Then you're on your way, and already doing it. It's that simple. It's not complicated, that's an excuse to not-begin, in disguise. Wisdom is DOing it.
