FOOD ADVENTURE #12: Mons Grill - Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur
"The Family that Eats Halo-halo Together, Stays Together"
Last April 2, 2018, my parents and I decided to go to Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur to taste the famous Halo-halo of Mons Grill. Since it's summer, it's perfect for a halo-halo!
My father was thrilled because finally, we are able to go since I only come home when there are no classes, fortunately, it was a holiday to celebrate the Holy Week.
We ordered halo-halo and other sweet desserts like leche flan, puto (rice cake), cassava cake and banana cake. My father also ordered a shrimp sinigang meal.
My mother, Lagrimas, tasting the sinigang. It was sour and you can see it on my mother's face after (haha). I tasted it also, but for me it was just right. So my father finished all of it.
My father, Roel, ordered a mango halo-halo. It was not as sweet as the ube flavor. He was very serious while eating his halo-halo. I just asked him here to smile for this picture but he was startled instead (haha).
This is my ube halo-halo. It looks very tantalizing!
A peak to the treasure hidden inside. It's a combination of fruits like young buko meat, avocado, mango, papaya, corn and corn flakes, with shaved ice. Heaven!
It's called halo-halo for a reason. You need to mix everything. This is what it should look like after you mix your halo-halo.
Mons Grill is very famous for their halo-halo. It's different than other halo-halos because of the added avocado which made it creamier.
I finished every bit of it. And it was delicious!
Visit their store at Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur! Everything is very affordable, starting from Php40 (0.8$) to Php200 (4$).
Mons Grill will not disappoint you. :)

I'm not much of a cook - but this looks simple enough to make. Have you tried cooking while sipping on a Vienna lager?
It's very simple! You will just need fruits, you can use whatever fruit is available in your locality, then shaved ice, condensed milk and ice cream (any flavor will suffice). Ta-da! Your halo-halo is ready.
What is a vienna lager, if I may ask?
Aaaaahhhhh, the tastes of summer...
Summer is really here ☺️
