Hello and welcome to another steemit post from Simple recipes, I hope you enjoy today's post.


Umm Ali(also called Om Ali) is a popular dessert in Egypt. This is the Middle Eastern take on bread pudding and is a very traditional desert.


Ingredients:

  • 10-12 croissant (you can use puff pastry )
  • 1 liter of milk
  • 1 liter of 10%cream
  • ½ cup of 35%cream
  • ½ cup of sliced almonds
  • ½ cup of raisins
  • ½ - 3/4 cup of coconut flakes
  • One tablespoon cinnamon
  • One tablespoon of vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • One can of cream product(170 gram)


Method:

1. Preheat the oven to 325 break the pastry into small pieces (1-2 inches), place them into a large bowl with the raisin , almond and coconut flakes(keep some for garnish) mix them well and evenly, place them in butter coated 9*12 baking dish

2. In a saucepan, heat milk, 10% cream, brown sugar, vanilla extract and cinnamon on medium heat. Allow to cook for 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat pour on the pastry and nuts mix leave it for 2 minutes.

3. Sprinkle the rest of nuts and coconut flakes, pour the 35 %cream then cream product on the top.

4. Bake uncovered for 10-15 minutes


Serve hot or at room temperature
