Anchor Cafe at Mahé - Blackened Fish and Pineapple Cake

in #food7 years ago

When you find a random restaurant at a map and it turns out to be the best food you had during the entire vacation.

Last night we visited Anchor Cafe on Mahé, in the Seychelles. The place didn’t look very fancy, but the food was delicious! We started off with a pina colada, as one should in a tropical paradise.

Then we had a starter, fried eggplant. And boy, this was surprisingly good! We decided to try to recreate this dish at home. I can’t believe my travel buddy @laivi just found this place randomly on a map. We traveled a bit south on the island just to visit this place, so we were pretty happy to discover that it was open, that it looked cozy and that the food was great.

We decided to try two main courses, just to taste more food. The choice fell on jimbalaya and blackened fish.
The blackened creole fish had more flavors than you can imagine. It was by far the best thing we tasted on this vacation.

What this place lacked in atmosphere and presentation, they definitely made up for in taste. The food was really good and the staff was friendly.
The restaurant had a very local feeling and the food seemed very authentic for the area. The place where the small restaurant was looked like a fishermen’s village.

For dessert we also went for two different options. Pineapple upside down cake and chocolate cake.
This didn’t disappoint either...

The view from Anchor Cafe was also something else!
And right next to the cafe was a pretty look out point for the sunset.

Hi! Sorry about that, here at the Seychelles the WIFI isn’t too good, but I am working on responding to every comment :) thanks for reading!

You're welcome. I did not think it could be a WIFI issue. Sorry. :) I follow you closely. And I do Reestem to make a contribution. I hope that will be useful. I would like to see more sharing.
Thanks also for your comment sir :) @susanne

I see you are 'roughing it' there in the Seychelles... lol

The blackened fish dish looks fantastic, but I just can't get excited over eggplant. It looks like the dullest vegetable on the earth! (Of course, I really haven't tried it, either - lol) Ok, maybe kale is the dullest vegetable on earth...
