Turkish BreakFast Buns
Good morning Steemians
I hope you had a great Easter holiday , I stayed home most of the holidays, as the weather in London was .............. :(
Today I will be making Lovely Turkish breakfast buns. They are very easy to make, and smell and taste exceptional
They could be made in any shape you like, could be a party snack as well
Ingredients
Wet ingredients
- 2 cups of warm milk
- 1 cup of vegetable oil
- 2 eggs (separate the egg white and egg yolk)
- 2 Table spoons of yeast
Dry Ingredients
- 6 cups of all purpose flour
- 4 Table spoons of granulated sugar
- 1/2 Tea spoon of salt
- Zest of 1 orange
- 1 table spoon of fennel optional)
It Begins
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, add all the milk, oil and 2 egg whites
Add the Sugar and Yeast to the above ingredients and mix well
Add the rest of the Dry ingredients ( Flour, Salt, Orange Zest and Fennel) and mix well until you have a soft dough
- Transfer the Dough to a new bowl and cover it
- Wait for the dough to rise, it should double in size in around an hour, depending on your kitchen temperature ( the warmer your kitchen the faster it will rise )
- Put some flour on the kitchen table and place the dough on it.
- Start cutting the dough into small pieces around the size of an orange and flatten it out ( not too thin)
- Feel free to use any filling you like, you can use Nutella , Cream cheese or Jam
- Make sure you have pre-heated your oven to around 180 degrees, and start folding the dough with filling into a shape of your choice.
- Put the dough in a pan, brush with egg yolks and feel free to add sesame seeds on top, for an extra touch
- It would be good to wait for around 30 minutes before placing it in the over, so that the dough can fully develop
- Put the pan with the Dough, in the pre-heated oven for 25-30 minutes
I hope you enjoy this light hearted snack, it could seem a little challenging but believe me it is very straight forward, but as always if you have any questions you will find me on my telegram group below
