Bœuf Bourguignon

Ingredients

  • 1 kg of beef chuck
  • 4 slices of bacon
  • 2 onions
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 2 tablespoons of tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
  • 1 bottle of red wine
  • **1 ** bouquet garni
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the bacon and cook until crisp.
  3. Add the onions and garlic and cook for about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the beef and cook until browned.
  5. Add the tomato paste, flour, and sugar and cook for a few minutes.
  6. Pour in the red wine and add the bouquet garni.
  7. Simmer for about 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  8. Remove the bouquet garni and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Serve with mashed potatoes or crusty bread.
