Father’s day lobster lunch in Hong Kong, China
Would you like to see the amazing lobster and steak we had on Father’s day in Hong Kong?
On Sunday we went out to have a look at the T-rex dinosaur bone (real thing) exhibition in a mall in Central, Hong Kong, China. They even had a piece of bone for people to touch! By some miracle, the Landmark Cafe, which was a very popular and established western restaurant had a table. An enormous queue formed literally seconds after we went in, which was quite amusing to us.
We first had the lobster bisque, which was full of lobster flavour, and we wiped the plate with rolls to savour the last drop of it. Quite pricey for a soup but well worth it!
Then the famous surf and turf! Look at all the meat on the lobster! It was cooked to perfection. The steak as you can see is just past pink with no blood but retains its smooth texture. This place deserves a Michelin star or two just for this dish. The lobster and the steak were perfect. It also wasn’t too much more expensive than the regular steak as well for some odd reason.
For dessert we had the lemon chocolate tart. The best thing was the server carried a huge platter of 8 pieces of cake for us to choose. This action was a 5 star service move. We were very impressed. But the tart itself was not impressive. The chocolate totally overpowered the lemon taste and the whole thing was too sweet. We’d pretend we paid for the spectacle of having the cake selection carried over and the tart was free. LOL.
Another thing we had was the molten cake, which seems to be quite the thing in Hong Kong western restaurants. It came erupted but the taste was decent. Again it was a bit too sweet but at least the chocolate taste was quite impactful. We should probably have passed the dessert to be honest, considering the price relative to the superb soup or main course.
