The One Marketing Lesson You Can Learn From a Latte

When I'm consuming things, I'm not typically thinking about it from a consumerist standpoint.

I'm sure most people get a cute latte and think "wow, I'm going to share this on the gram to impress my friends."

Since I don't have any friends, my mind goes in a slightly different direction (just kidding about the friends thing).

I get a latte like this and think- wow, this business owner is smart.

First, the cappuccino costs more than others in the surrounding restaurants.

Why?

Because of presentation.

The flowers are an upsell, or rather, a built in value-add. People WILL pay more for something unique. It's a new "experience" that they can share with their friends.

Take smoothie bowls for example.

This smoothie bowl costs 85k Indonesian rupiah. The other smoothie bowls at the same restaurant cost only 60k.

The difference is people will pay more to have a "unique" smoothie bowl that's instagrammable. Add in a piece of fruit that is cut like a palm tree, and boom, instant value-add. Just like that.

Doing something memorable and different will you get noticed.

Not only does the owner get a little extra profit becuase of this upsell, he also gets FREE word of mouth marketing!

How do I know this?

Because I found this restaurant (Peloton in Canggu a few months ago when I was looking for new places to eat and work from in Bali).

I came across this place on instagram because SO many people tagged these smoothie bowls and their other food because it's ALL super photogenic.

Trust me, that's definitely not an accident on the owner's part.

Anyway, today is the food photography contest by @juliank and I don't know if a coconut milk cappuccino counts as food...

...but it's just too pretty not to share!

If the latte doesn't count as food- then maybe the flowers can count as food (rabbits eat them, right?).

I used to do weird things as a kid like eat flowers off of bushes, so here it is... food and marketing.

P.S. Sorry I haven't been talking with you guys as much as usual, but there's a reason for that and I'll be more responsive soon!

I'm not surprised at this 😁😀😁.

Your P.S is understandable. I can not apologise enough either. I've been trying to study some whitepaper and company for a while now.

I like eating raw leaves too until my microbiology brother told me it will overwork my internal organs.

Little Secret: I still eat it seldomly though 😀

hahahaha oh emjoe, you are just wonderful.

Maybe when we meet someday we can secretly eat flowers and leaves together haha

:)
It will be a dream come true for me.

Keep steeming dear

This same concept can be translated over to steemit as well. A good thumbnail and title will always get more attention from users than an average one even if the content on the inside is no better than everything else. Presentation matters and it always will.

"Presentation" counts 👔

Great post!

People are visual souls and more often attracted to more beautiful things but are also judgemental or prejudice beings.

Wow. Smart girl and so well written and explained. So where are you now? Bali? I'm seriously thinking about heading there this winter. But first leaving to Belfast Irland Friday, then off to Prague to hang for a while. Have you spent much time traveling Eurpoe? Will be my first time, after almost a dozen years in Asia, SE Asia, North, Central, and South America.

Hope you are well. From Up-state NY -Dan "World Travel Pro!"

Lovely post! @nomadicsoul. I take photos because they're beautiful. I don't really do it for instagram purposes because I only post there once in a while. I got tons of beautiful photos (I'm saying this from my own perspective. Am not bragging) and I keep them for myself.

I always think of photos as my treasure and they are my wonderful memories. ^^

I'm always amazed how your mind is thinking! You should own a business of this sort. ^^

I'm sorry. I made a mistake how to use steepshot earlier.

I think that it seems delicious coffee and cuisine.
