Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos is reportedly at risk of not featuring in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final after breaching UEFA protocol in their club’s 3-1 defeat to Juventus at the Bernabeu.

The Spanish centre back was suspended for the quarter final second leg tie against Juventus on Wednesday night, in a match that saw the current UEFA Champions League cup holders survive a looming defeat to advance to the last four of the competition via the away goal rule.

Ramos who is at the brink of a suspension left his position at the Real Madrid stands and moved closer the touchline in the last few minutes of the tension-soaked encounter and got involved in an altercation with Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri before Madrid’s decider goal from Cristiano Ronaldo.

Reports from Sky Sports news has it that the Spaniard breached UEFA regulation Article 15, stating that players cannot participate in a game for which they are ineligible.

UEFA are reportedly awaiting referee Michael Oliver’s report, and the outcome of the report will determine Ramos’ fate – the same punishment that was meted out to fellow Spaniard Xabi Alonso for an incident in 2014 when he entered the pitch to celebrate a goal in the final.

It will be a big blow for the Spanish champion and defending champion of the Uefa Champions League should the suspension be slammed on Ramos.
