Liverpool - Huddersfield Town
Premier League. Liverpool had no play at midnight, as they were knocked out of Leicester's league match in the previous round. It might be alright, they have a lot to work with after a series form that has given 1-3-2 last six games, including two crushing defeats against Man City and Tottenham. Liverpool have huge defensive problems, and against the best teams they are not good enough offensive to weigh up for them. Against weaker teams, it's okay, some 7-0 against Maribor in the Champions League. There is little evidence that the problems can be resolved without getting reinforcements, and they will not be done before January. 2-2-0 at home that season, but the victories returned in August. Lallana, Mane and Clyne are still injured, while Wijnaldum is unsure of a Liverpool which still lacks a little width on the right.
Huddersfield made a hard-won battle against Man Utd last weekend and beat them 2-1 after a relatively early 2-0 lead. It was the third victory of the team and they stand 3-3-3 in the first nine matches since the promotion. It is solid, but there is a lot of work left to do to ensure a new season at this level. Huddersfield won first away game all 3-0 against hopeless Palace, but since then it has become 0-1-2 without scoring a single goal. They did not play midfielder struggles, and thus rested. Stankovic who always injured, the same are Palmer, Quamer, Hefele and Biling, as they have been for a while now. Kachunga is uncertain after he last suffered damage.
Liverpool will be more than good enough on the pitch to win such a home match, but they can quickly drop in, and then they will end up with points loss.
