Barcelona Trash Madrid At Camp Nou
Barcelona humiliated Real Madrid 5-1 at the Camp Nou on Sunday. Luis Suarez stepped up in the absence of Lionel Messi to score a hat-trick in a humiliating El Clasico for Real Madrid and their under fire head coach Julen Lopetegui.
Barcelona started the game in grand style and scored in the 11th minute after a well taken goal by Coutinho.
Barcelona added more pressure to the Real Madrid defence and were awarded a Penalty via the VAR which was converted by Luis Suarez.
Madrid responded in the second half as in form Left back Marcelo reduced the deficit after he smashed a loose ball in the back of the net.
Things got worse for Madrid after Suarez headed in a cross from Sergi Roberto.
Suarez completed his hat-trick before Arturo Vidal header sealed the game as the visitors fell apart.
The result leaves Lopetegui in a seemingly untenable situation after Madrid's heaviest Clasico defeat in three years and Barcelona building a seven-point lead over their old rivals in the league.
After the game, Madrid midfielder Casemiro told Spanish Media "This 5-1 sums up our season so far. We have played well in some spells, But that is this season - we are a disaster, all playing very bad, all of us.”
