Messi is Under Great Pressure to Won the World Cup
Lionel Messi's career is often called incomplete because it has not been a World Cup champion. The pressure to grab it is like a pistol attached to Messi's head.
Messi has achieved everything at club and individual level. Together with Barcelona, he has won La Liga, Copa del Rey, Champions League, until the Club World Cup.
At the individual level, players from Argentina was also rewarded various awards. Messi even won the Ballon d'Or five times.
But he was less fortunate with the senior national team Argentina. Although often touted as the best player in the world, Messi has never won the World Cup.
World Cup 2014 to be the closest moment Messi with the title. But, he with La Albiceleste must be satisfied to be runner-up. Similarly, the Copa America event, where Argentina lost in the finals 2015 and 2016.
Pressure to win the World Cup continues to haunt Messi. Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli described the pressure as a pistol attached to the 30-year-old's head.
"There is a pistol called the World Cup in his head and if he does not win it, he is shot and killed," Sampaoli quoted in his book as quoted.
"As a result, he can not enjoy his talent, what I see is the negative things about his career in international football ruin Messi."
However, Sampaoli praises for Messi. He is also honored to train Messi.
"Right now, I feel I am training the best player in history, this man who has survived as the best in the world for 10 years," Sampaoli stated.
Opportunity will come for Messi in the 2018 World Cup. Can Messi finish it?
