Ozil made this known in a three page press release on twitter where he stated that he no longer wants to be the scapegoat for the failure of the president of the DFB, Reinhard Grindel to perform his duty diligently.

The racial abuse and criticism follows a picture where Mesut Ozil and teammate Ilkay Gundogan both posed with the Turkey president, Recep Erdoğan.

Following Germany's ouster at the World Cup the media and FA have singled out Ozil for the team's poor performance and asked to explain his reason for such actions.

Ozil is of Turkish ancestry and he explained this as his reason for posing for a picture with the president of his ancestry country and nothing political.

He also claims that when he wins he's been referred to as German but when he loses, that's when the realise he's an immigrant. He also claims been referred to as German-Turkish over the years by the media portrays that he has not been accepted as one of them.

In the third page of the release, the Arsenal midfielder criticised DFB president, Reindhal Grindel who he claims has been at the fore of the abuse and racial taunt.

He claims Grindel is using the fall-out among the players to prosper his own political ambition at the detriment of the players and team.

As well as Grindel, the former Werder Bremen and Real Madrid start highlighted the actions of politician Bernd Holzhauer who called Ozil a "goat-fer" and Chief of German Theatre Werner Steer who wished for the footballer to "p back to Anatolia" - a place where refugees live in Turkey.

The 29-year old since making his debut for the Die Mannschaft in 2009 has made 92 appearances, scoring 23 goals in the process. He was part of the team that lifted the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

He has also been named National Team Player of the Year five times.
