The 2018 World Cup in Russia has certainly not been led by a referee from the United Kingdom. This is the first time in history since 1938.

As reported by BBC Sports, FIFA, the Football Federation (FIFA), has selected 36 officials for the tournament to be held in Russia. However, nothing comes from England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Howard Webb became the final British referee chosen by FIFA to become a judge at the World Cup, namely in 2010 and 2014. However, the referee in the 2010 World Cup final between Spain and the Netherlands had retired from the black shirt corps.

The last name that represents England is Mark Clattenburg. He was appointed court in the 2016 European Cup final when Portugal defeated host France.

However, he has also quit his job. Since February 2017, Clattenburg became Chairman of Referees in Saudi Arabia.

The Football Federation (FA) had asked FIFA to file a replacement for Mark Clattenburg. However, the request was rejected.

The main referee list at the 2018 World Cup:

Asia: Fahad Al-Mirdasi (Saudi Arabia), Ryuji Sato (Japan), Alireza Faghani (Iran)
