UEFA Champions League: Manchester City mount a comeback to beat Schalke in Germany

in #football6 years ago

Manchester City mounted a comeback with 10 men as they win 3-2 against Schalke in Germany. It was an impressive win to the Citizens as they inch closer to the next round with the return leg in Manchester. City started the match guns blazing, as Sergio Aguero put City ahead in the 18th minute. Then disaster struck for Manchester City as a handball by Otamendi gave the home side a penalty. Bentaleb then scored the equalizer in the penalty spot in the 38th minute.

Just as halftime was approaching, City was then again penalized as the referee awarded a penalty for a foul on Salif Sane by Fernandinho. Bentaleb once again converted the penalty as Schalke lead 2-1 at the break.

As if 2 penalties was not enough Otamendi was given a red card in the second half with 20 minutes to play, City went down to 10 men just like that. It was a perfect match for Schalke to win but, former player Leroy Sane had some other things to say, Sane scored a marvelous 25 yard free kick where no goalkeeper alive can save it. The match was then tied at 2-2 with 5 minutes and stoppage time remaining. Sterling then completed the comeback with a goal in the 90th minute to seal the victory to the visitors.

I think this tie is over, Manchester City will progress to the next round. How about you what are your thoughts on this match?
