Footballers are better known for their competence to kick a ball around.
However, there are some who have taken up roles outside the football pitch
Despite being full time players some players have added education to their profession.
Here are some players (present or retired) with Master degrees
Edwin Van der Sar
The former Ajax, Manchester United and Netherlands goalkeeper. He was a Champions League winner and boasts numerous other football accolade
However, that did not stop him from acquiring higher certificates. Van der Sar currently retired, he has acquired his Masters Degree in International Sports Management.
Giorgio Chiellini
Widely known for his combative style of play. However, the Juventus defender recently graduated from the University of Turin with a
Master’s Degree in Business Administration.
Frank Lampard
All-time topscorer for Chelsea,
Frank Lampard has a Degree in Latin – a subject he scored an A in.
Juan Mata
World Cup winner, UEFA Champions League winner, European champion et al. Juan Mata has a cabinet full of trophies and personal awards but the Manchester United playmaker’s abilities are beyond the pitch.
The 28-year-old has graduated with a degree in Sports Science and Finance at the University Camilo Jose Cela in Madrid.
Vincent Kompany
Manchester city and Belgian captain Vincent Kompany graduated from Alliance Manchester Business School with a Master's in Business Administration (MBA).
